N.E.C.A Preview The Star Trek: Attack Wing Collection

We knew a while back that WizKids had got hold of the Star Trek license and were using it for their new Attack Wing game. Well, N.E.C.A have got a whole load of images from the release and you can check out some of them here...
As you can see the set-up looks good right now. The main boxed game is similar to the one for X-Wing with the Enterprise, a Klingon vessel and what appears to be a Romulan ship too.
Above are some of the bits and pieces you get with each of the ships too. You get a lot of character cards, plenty of information and some extra bits and pieces too. It's nice to see they have delved into the back catalog for this one when it comes to characters.

i still say this isn’t going to work. x-wing is dogfighting, star trek is more like warships. warships moving like fighters just wont work.
however i may pick a couple of these up and use them in full thrust, much closer to how star trek ships should be fighting.
It’ll be interesting to see how the rules work. They might have changed a few things up to reflect the Star Fleet style of fighting.

I just don’t understand this reasoning, I’m pretty certain I’ve seen the Enterprise turn before, and what about the Picard d74 Evasive (or whatever he called it) maneuver, pretty certain that’s more than just move in a straight line. All the cards I’ve seen pretty much just show gentle turns, nothing wrong with that.
Although using the x wing system and rules, the manoeuvres, weapons and shielding are much more capital ship like in Star Trek Attack wing.

That looks interesting. Time will tell if eventually Borg and Dominion are added alonside with Federation ships used in Dominion War.
Dominion are in the first wave 🙂 Well at least the Cardassian ship (Kraxon) is classified as Dominion, along with the Breen battlecruiser Gor Portas.
Would be nice to see the Defiant show up with some Jem’hadar ships though…
Also, would love to see Borg, but I’m afraid it might look weird scalewise… as even a sphere is considerably larger than most starships…

I don’t think they are going for “in-scale” models. If so, I doubt that’s going to be an issue for them and you’ll see spheres and cubes.
True, but that’s what I meant, if it was in scale it wouldn’t be weird, just big haha 😀 Come to think of it spheres might just work even if in scale… Voyager could fit inside but that wasn’t the biggest ship around… I’m not completely sure about the scale thing, from what I’ve read they are indeed not going for in-scale models like the X-Wing ones, but there is a definite size difference in the models, which makes me wonder, if you bother to make a size difference (for instance look at the tiny os Enterprise) why not go… Read more »
My guess is that they are going for an “implied” scale. Doing it to actual scale would make them really all over the map.
Yeah, just saw them in real life and I guess that’s true. Also just read the rulebook and in the initiative order the Borg are there, so I’m pretty much 100% sure the Borg will be a faction later on 😉
I am sad to say (as I am really a Star Wars fan) that this is a better game than X-wing

My local group has been snapping up all the starters and expansion packs as fast as they come in. I’ve gotten about six or seven games in this week and think it’s brilliant. I have X-wing as well and think that’s great too, but there’s nothing like zooming about in a cloaked Bird of Prey waiting to pounce on unsuspecting enemy.
