These are a great improvement of initial designs. They were very Dark Angel-esque with robed winged figures. Darrell’s not going to like them because there aren’t any skulls for him.
Personally I’d prefer a cleaner look without the bobbles and nailed on plates, but that’s probably because I’m playing Infinity later today…
Yeah…I don’t mind the plates, but I for one was glad we got rid of the round bumps in the 90’s. Sadly, they made a come-back…

these “bubbles are “honour bolts” …so they kind of have to be there ^^ its a reward for outstanding performance on the battlefield.
I thought Spess Mahreens wore those on their heads, and that the bolts on the armour were to bond together low quality plates for the same protection as better armour during the Heresy?
nope these bolts (that thug the armour together) are the smaller one
the big ones are a sign of honour
but yes in the future they only have small bolts on the forehead
Right… “honor bumps”…
Oh well.
As if anything about these armors made sense anyway.

its not only science its also fiction ^^ as long as they could probably work ( and yes they do …and before you start with the huge shouldepads look at medieval armour these are huge as well …and yes I know usually they were mounted on a horse but then again SMs have servos to support their movement) I think its okay that they add what ever they want… its fiction ^^ plus you dont have to go back far into hour own history to find multiple armor or uniform types that doesnt make sense to us either ^^ …… Read more »
Um… Okay… I’m not saying it doesn’t make sense that they’re wearing it. Plenty of people wear all sorts of things that don’t make sense, or won’t… I’m sure it’s justified (if flimsily) by science or fiction that the Space Marines wear such a ridiculous armor, with shoulder pads above the head and everything, while still being capable of moving freely… It always is. I have yet to see a medieval armor with shoulder pads that go above the head, but it’s conceivable. It still makes me smile… Just as much as any other completely ridiculous outfit that the miniature… Read more »
No, Sir. I haven’t been messing about with the Sister of Battle behind the Rhino. Oh no, Sir, it’s not contagious at all. Those are “honour bumps’
;P
What I find even more funny is the fact, that every Space Marine with these “honour bumps” has every inch of his armour covered with them in a perfect layout. There is not a single Marine who has only collected a few so far.
I liked the other ones before they did this as they seemed much cleaner before as well. The studs might be what’s turning me off of the new ones.
Quick bit of filework and there you go 🙂
