A Massive New Wave of Miniatures from Reaper
February 21, 2012 by brennon
It's that time of the month where Reaper release their new miniatures and there is certainly a lot of them. The following miniatures are from across their ranges.
That was a fair few miniatures to pour over from Reaper there. And on a plus side they have decided to paint most of their figures now too! Perfect!
Any of these catch your eye? Name your favourites below...
I like the hill giant and the orge a lot, both remind me of power rangers monsters of the week.
The Lumberjack is good too, you don’t get many “regular people” as minis.
I think the lumberjack is quite OK, he seems alright in the light of day.
😉
I think he likes to skip and jump and press wild flowers
I don’t know what it is with Reaper minis. It’s one of the oldest mini companies out still making models but I rarely like the quality. It’s like looking into the past as it is nice models for the 80’s, but in todays era of 3D printing and just real good sculptors, it looks like reaper is the new kid on the block. I don’t get it, am I missing something?
The thing about Reaper is, they are cheap. Quite a bit cheaper than most other minis. I was just at the store and saw some for $4.00. They appeal to the RPG gamers who don’t care about the quality as much as mini gamers.
Well now that you put it that way it makes sense to me. It’s to keep price down and have some one off monster mashes in RPGs. I guess knowing is half the battle. 😉
a mixed bag of not to bad minis but no superb ones either…my c3/fantasy rpg list might find room for that ogre magi.
Those are very nice looking.
Those multizombie-merged flesh type models are super-awesome!! gonna get a couple of those as unit fillers. and manpug – I still play by WHFB 4th Ed so the retro look is sweet 🙂
Standard fare from Reaper. At least they are painting the promos these days.
To everyone lamenting the sculpt quality – remember how you first learned to paint? On less detailed cheaper figs wasn’t it? These are great for newbs, they waste less money with merely a tabletop job and still look decent at least. It’s good to push the boundaries of fine detail but it can scare off fresh blood too.
Well said.
Worth mentioning that at least two of those models (the ogre mage and giant, specifically) are previously released, but being released again here under their cheaper, P-65 line (cheaper metal than the usual). I like Reaper’s stuff. Most of the fantasy stuff since about 2002 has been high quality, really. Sculptors like Jason Wiebe and Verner Klocke do great work for them, and at reasonable prices. The hit-or-miss stuff has been the Chronoscope line, where it seems like they bought up anything modern, sci-fi and the like, no matter how lousy the quality was, just to flesh out the line… Read more »
