Latest Space Marine Bone Shattering Footage
April 10, 2011 by lloyd
Here’s the latest Space Marine Video Game Footage.
In the video the guys form THQ/Relic discuss the universe and give us more info. on the plot of the game itself.
Now most of us don’t need to be told what a Space Marine is but if you look past the general over view, this developer diary shows off allot of actual in-game footage.
I think it’s clear to see that this is going to be a rollercoaster of bone shattering fun and I can’t wait to give it a go.
Release: Q3/2011
Platform: xBox 360 - PS3 - PC

Looking good, shame it’s Ultramarines but should be a laugh.
Nothing wrong with Ultramarines, they’re the standard force, they don’t specialize with any one tactic or weapon, so the player can freely choose what they want to use and how to use it without the trappings of chapter specific things.
Did anyone notice on the Warlord Titan when it pointed to the Double Barreled Turbo Laser Destructor and called in a Vulkan Mega-Bolter? It’s not like the two are even remotely similar. It tickles my lol-femur.
The main reason that Ultramarines get the nod in products like this (and the recent animated movie) is that they’re the default Space Marines. If you’re pitching a product at an audience which is primarily not familiar with the ‘verse, then you have to start by explaining what a Space Marine is. It makes sense to use the baseline Space Marine chapter to do that with, and if you get a successful audience then you can start thinking about “all that except these ones are vampires/emos/space vikings/grew up playing with matches”.
Looks like chaos forces will a play a part.
Oh wise and omnipotent gaming gods of the South,
Please don’t let this game be a complete and utter flop…
I don’t think I can handle another dragon age 2…
[in what a let down it was, not in the game play aspects, because for the moment I still have faith in BioWare.]
I thought it was great 🙂
Bits of DA2 were great, the combat and character development were great, but the fact that you could only talk to characters at certain times in certain places was just silly, the bad stuff outweighed the good stuff for sure. But after the first game being so awesome it was always going to be hard to follow it. Oh well it’s the first substandard game Bioware have made, they are human after-all.
well, though this not that this is the proper place to talk about this, I shall still explain my issue with DA2. to be fair, I only had 3 main problems with DA2… 1] No matter how hard I try I can’t get Fenris and Anders (who continually ht on me regardless of how I shoot them down or insult them) to back off. they keep coming back for more! considering I’m a straight male this irks me. although I appreciate BioWare ability to include all demographics when it comes to their romances, but I would like characters who can… Read more »
I loved DA:2, already on my third playthrough.
Bad + Ass = Ultramarines kicking the hell out of Ork butt. Who cares if its the Ultramarines, its a Space Marine 3rd Person Shooter/Action/RPG lol. It’s what we’ve all been waiting for lol
Can’t wait. I wanted more BOOM from the boltgun sound though.
looks like a far game should be good seeing its thrid player and not on the computer and when is it coming out
This game is on PC.
And it’s been confirmed for an August release.
looks awesome, keen to play
THQ promised no Ultramarines ! hahahahahah ha.
Ah well, still marines. Looking forward to it. Normally I’d be wary as some THQ titles can me very hit/miss but with relic doing the development we should be sound!
Actualy I’d like to see a TPS game with orks. It could be awesome if they put ll the orky humor and let you beat the crap out of beakies and uvva weedy gits! 😉
looks a bit like bulletstorm, but bulletstorm is awesome so im not complaining. Although i wish it was against chaos or something and the protagonists were not smurfmarines but still, looks good
Chaos does appear in the game.
This looks nothing like Bulletstorm though IMHO.
Bulletstorm = FPS. Space Marine = TPS. Bulletstorm dialog = “ah, you scared the dick off of me!”. Space Marine dialog = probably not going to say “dick”. Bulletstorm = points hording. Space Marine = classic get from here to here and kill. Bulletstorm humour = Immature innuendo and genitalia related. Space Marine humour = not much except from Orks. I don’t think this looks anything like bulletstorm really, except you shoot things and there’s blood. It looks more like Gears of War (same dev as Bulletstorm) but even then, Space Marines lack of a cover system completely changes the… Read more »
Point of clarity Gears was an Epic game, Bulletstorm is actually a game developed by People Can fly, with Epic providing editorial direction. Other than that yes you’re spot on.
Orcs don’t usually attack in 1s and 2s.
and they call themselves Orks also 😛
can’t wait for this one 🙂
I can’t wait to get this game. So far they’ve shown Orks, Chaos, and Tyranids. I hope theres more races in it.
Tyranids haven’t really been shown. There was a “shaky camera” video of a ‘fex fighting a dreadnought at E3 ’09 but that’s all. They haven’t been confirmed and the whole dev team changed since that time. I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t see any Tyranids in the game.
My bet about why Ultramarines vs. Orks is in the game, is that what two armies are in the current 40k starter? You gessed, Ultramarines and Orks.
They say it’s Orks so that you can feel like a real bad ass when killing Orks. But if Chaos were the main race you would have trouble killing more than two at a time fluff wise.
I’ve played Ultramarines for 15+ years. even I’d like the game to have a different chapter, mostly because they have second company heraldry and a Captain Titus. Seriously, Who the hell is Titus? 2nd Company is lead by Sicarius. Its the same problem I have with the movie(well one of them anyway) If they wanted to create new characters they should have used a chapter with less background so they can’t contradict stuff accidentally. Just off the top of my head, there’s the Nova Marines, the White Consuls, The Relictors or oh say the friggin’ Blood Ravens that Relic can… Read more »
TITUS ADUXASS? 😉
It does look pretty sweet, but its going to be a cinematic combat game. Cinematic games try to reduce the HUD as much as possible and add as many cool animations for combat as it can. Which is all well and fine for previews like this and the first maybe half hour of playing the game, then it gets old and repetitive really quick. First time finishing an ork with a chainsword “FECK YEAH!”, now do that same finishing animation where it locks your controls and you have to watch the same thing after killing a hundred orks with your… Read more »
It looks awesome! I wonder if Relic is going to add cool stuff like being able to customize your armor color after the first playthrough or other secrets.
I hope to god that there is a multiplayer option for this game as well as what seems to be an awesome campaign. Given the option tho i would like a more story driven game rather than a crappy FPS with a multiplayer add-on. Relic has always handled GW games well so I have big expectations for this game. Here’s hoping for Terminator armour as well as the option to customise armour colour if there is a multiplayer. Sorry ultrasmurfs but I ain’t playing you in multiplayer
i hate that it’s a cross-console game. it could have looked good on the PS3, but such is the way of the world.
without someone talking about the multiplayer, i’m not too optimistic.
sony has been releasing GW games for 15 years. they should have kept it in the family. i guess we’ll see.
I’ll be getting it on PC anyway because it will probably be cheaper and friends don’t own PS3’s.
The only thing I’m worrying about is that all Relics large successes (DoW, Company of Heroes, Homeword) are all RTS’, weaning a third person shooter is a large change, and I just hope they really know what they’re doing, if you know what I mean.
is this on console? I hope so . . .
specifically xbox
Hi @phebrickid – Yes xBox360 PS3 and PC
I am really, really looking forward to this. I haven’t bought a videogame in quite some time (so many models to paint) but I’m sure to pick this up.

if only GW could make a movie this pretty…
Finally a 40k shooter and most people are annoyed that its Ultramarines. Hell I couldn’t care less if it was White Scars (not a real fan of their look). Im just ecstatic that they made a shooter. Looks good and if sales are good enough I’m sure they’ll branch into other chapters but I get the feeling they like to make their own chapters like they did Blood Ravens, because using set chapters is quite limiting, with custom chapters there is no expectation and quite a lot of freedom. Anyway cant wait!
Hell yeah! Space marines don’t need no silly gears of war cover system, they just smash right through and into the thick of combat. I also like how they are going farther into the orks and giving them weapons that look just awesome (e.g. ork with bullet proof shield is my guess, pause at 3:46 when the orks are running down a walkway) Definitely can’t wait to play.
I vote for relic to make the next 40k movie!!!!
Very nice not a 40k player but i liked the Firewarrior FPS on the PS2 some years back so may give this a go on my X box .
