More Khador… Black Ivan!
April 12, 2011 by beerogre
We just looked at Kommander Harkevich this morning and now here's his personal warjack... Black Ivan!
Here's the bumph from Privateer Press...
Black Ivan is the prized companion of Kommander Harkevich, a warcaster renowned for his ingenuity on the battlefield. Armed with a bombard and an industrial wrecking claw, Black Ivan is an unparalleled instrument of war that excels at both long-range bombardment and the brutal press of melee.
Looks like it might be pretty good. However, this is an upgrade kit, so you'll need a heavy warjack kit in order to use it.

It looks nice, however it would have to be pretty impressive in play to tempt me to buy one of those upgrade kits.

This is the second night in a row the Privateer Press page won’t load because everyone from the motherland is piling on to see their new gear, so excellent I can see it on Beasts of War instead!
Being a big fan of Torch, I actually like the upgrade packs, and this looks pretty cool. That wrecking claw looks mean, and should be good for gutting warjacks from the sounds of it
The Wrecking Claw is probably just a higher POW fist weapon… probably P+S:17 (or so) with the open fist icon.
Black Ivan has a big metal jaw… a bite attack would be cool and would mean it was still effective after both its arms are crippled.
I’m looking forward to the Imprint this warjack will get… that’ll be the deciding factor.
I’m willing to bet the claw has something else going for it aside from a higher pow.
Reach? Beat back? Or, and this is far fetched, I know, but how about a *Attack that does a place effect like Telekenesis or Darius’s crane? Pick a model up, put it 2″ away with it’s back turned. That could be a lot of fun. 😀
Having those thing little sharp claws and all, if it had a lower P+S but armour piercing I might die a happy man, because that would be pretty damn nice on something other than the behemoth
I’m betting it’ll have armour pierce on it. >.< BoW Justin
I am not sure as i haven’t gotten a chance to even see one of the upgrade kits but from what i have heard it works great if you magnetize the mini and don’t build it as a static mini
again site needs an edit button… I find Ivan to be awesome looking
Nice one. Looks very aggressive. A real khadorian warjack.
But i don’t like these upgrade kits. If you design a character warjack, please don’t use plastic 🙁
I think they should have designed the character warjacks from scratch, were it only for the different pose. Those expensive metal upgrade kits that are supposed to go on a separate resin kit just so you need to buy more… They’re not bad, but they’re disappointing. Especially since some of the character warjacks aren’t that different or better than the regular ones, even though some do offer interesting tactical variants.
It seems to me like PP stepped down from its usual standard, in that matter… Nevertheless, on the whole, they’re still great… And Ivan looks good !

I rather like the upgrade kits. If you use your head you can magnetize them and save allot of money. I purchased 1 plastic Jack for Khador and now have all the jack configurations available in that box and on top of that Torch. Granted with a name like Black Ivan he is going to have to have a different paint scheme. So this on might warrant (imho) its own plastic jack kit. In that case the Plastic Jack + Upgrade still comes out to about the same price as a separate all metal character Jack. Besides it fits with… Read more »
you could just paint him to fit in with your army and make it like he was repainted to not stand out amongst his fellow jacks
I really like the claw on this guy, but it seems woefully oversize compared to the scrawny little bombard arm. Hell, the bombard looks scrawny compared to the normal arm on a destroyer. That said though, I think it is really interesting that this jack has the shoulder spikes reminiscent of the kodiak, so maybe it is in fact a kodiak with a bombard versus a destroyer with a big claw.
