Ironhead Squat Prospectors Prepare For Entry Into Necromunda
May 9, 2022 by fcostin
We didn't see the last of The Squats for Warhammer 40K! The Squats are heading over to Necromunda too, bringing the Ironhead Squat Prospectors and the Book of the Outlands to the tabletop.
Ironhead Squat Prospectors Break New Ground in Necromunda // Warhammer
There has been a lot going on with Necromunda recently. There's the fabulous Dustback Hellamites, or just simply kicking back with a fresh kill amidst the Ash Wastes.
Preview: Ironhead Squat Prospectors // Necromunda
"The gang comes loaded with cool kit from boltguns to heavy stubbers, and they’re not afraid to use mining equipment like stone burners and power hammers in a fight either." - Warhammer Community
Working hard underground as workers for an age. Known as Ironhead Prospectors; these Squats are no stranger to the dark and dim arenas contained within Necromunda. Distant relations to the Leagues of Voltann, they are prepared to dig for their treasure in the Ash Wastes. These cockney space dwarves are tough, heavily armed and wield their weapons with ambition and determination.
Book of the Outlands // Necromunda
If you are looking for some more lore to add to Necromunda, or just simply to brush up on all things Squat. The Book of the Outlands contains rules for the Prospectors alongside extended rules for the whole cohort of misfits, providing players with an insight into the Ash Wastes Nomads, and a cheeky heads up to the industrial vehicles that will be making way to Necromunda, bringing a mechanical mount to any party of devious gangs.
There is no date tied down for the Squats to head on over to Necromunda. But with their long absence on the table and a popular return, it's wonderful to see the Squats pop up across different games to reintroduce them to the world.
Are you tempted by Ironhead Squat Prospectors?

Those do look nice but I guess it was too much to hope that we would had gotten Squats for 40k as well. Oh well.
We did – League of Voltan is Squats for 40K.
we haven’t seen anything practical yet though …
one model, two statlines and that hover trike thingy
Necromunda got more squats than 40k at the moment.
Nothing has any squats at the moment. They haven’t released yet.
I don’t dislike these but I’m not wholly struck on them either. I think I prefer the old school style available via a recent Kickstarter.
Ooh nice an with some work done they could be great for navy engineers.
they lack proper beards … thus they can’t be space dwarves 😉
Nope, don’t like these at all (and what are AbHumans doing on a central Imperial planet, even if they are stuck out in the middle of nowhere. Surely there would be an Imperial “purge” of all things short and hairy in this case). They don’t look like Squats, they look more like a Primaris Space Marine that someone has stepped on. Rulewise, Boltguns as a standard weapon…yet more power creep (the Ash Waste Nomads also get a sniper rifle as a standard weapon (so you can have LOADS) as well). You’ll need another book that looks like it’s got rules… Read more »
I can’t say I hate them, but I prefer Mantic’s Forgefathers as an aesthetic (except for their tank).
For some reason they remind me of Keyop from Battle of the Planets.
Perhaps not surprisingly, there are a lot of design details here that are close, if not identical, to the design details of Kharadron Overlords from AoS. The “accordion” sleeves, shin and knee guard details, etc.
The fact that these are space dwarves and people aren’t immediately adoring the desgin, means they’re just awful. There’s not really two ways about it. These have made me appreciate how much better Kharadron are as Space Dwarves.
They look like nerdy tweens.
Glad I’m not the only one who didn’t like their look. I think they look bland when compared to the other Necromunda gangs.
