Infinity Unveil The Superb Sophotects And Wildcats for 2013
January 29, 2013 by dignity
Time for the first offerings of 2013 from the guys over at Infinity and, as always, they never disappoint.
Let's kick off with the Aleph Support Pack. In this one pack we're seeing cheap orders from the netrods, one badass looking healer in the Sophotects and the Yudbots allowing her to extend her presence over the battlefield.
Next in line we meet a new Celestial Guard. Loaded out with a hacking device, this looks like the perfect addition for all you veteran Yu Jing players out there.
(Engaging ace ventura voice for this one...) meet the... Briscards, 8éme Régiment D’ Iinfanterie de Montagne from the Ariadna Merovingian Rapid Response Force. *Pant*
These French lads are one of the monster fire teams that the Ariadna forces can field and they're coming with a good amount of weapon options.
Of course it wouldn't be an Infinity blast with out a sexy nomad chick to round things off, so here's one of the Wildcats with a Heavy Rocket Launcher (and may who ever came up with that heavy rocket launcher burn in hell, my poor Yu Jing can't seem to stand for long when there's one of those on the field).
Last up is Gao-Rael with a Spitfire. You should already have seen our exclusive on this cool looking Tohaa trooper.
Top quality sculpts, another great set of fantastic releases for Infinity.
I am positive many Aleph players will be quite happy with the Support pack.
Oh yes, absolutely.
They’re not new sculpts, but we’ve been waiting for just such a box ! Before that, the netrods were only sold individually with the little bots…
In any case, the Sophotect is as gorgeous as usual, as are the others.
Quite simply the best miniature skirmish game on the market today. Wonderous stuff as always!
Im waiting for the guys to make a tag with the cockpit open to show off a sexy pilot, would look so cool but one can only do but dream 🙂

You’ll have to make do with Soda Pop miniatures…
One could conceivably convert an Infinity TAG, but it would be quite difficult. Plus, most of those TAGs are remote controlled anyway.
Where are this minis painted? at Infinity’s studio? magnificent…
They are very good looking, but I wonder if we can ever get them as multipose ? Moveable arms and swappable guns would make them perfect.
No, they would just destroy the perfection you see in front of you, multipose just ruins a flowing dynamic sculpt for multiposability purposes, there are enough complains about the models been “blunt” in the 4 model boxes that are two bodies with swapable arms, multiposed would just ruin the entire line.
They are good mini’s for sure, still a way to go for perfection tho’.
The only thing that dissuades me from buying these minis in larger numbers is that “the other guys’ ” mini’s will be identical.
I will not argue with the perfection comment of course, it is subjective and philosophically at least unattainable.
On the identical minis though, I would say it is roughly the same in all companies, even GWs multipart models have a really small and finite number of poses they can really be positioned without bringing in an extensive conversion involving at least some gap filling and resculpt.
It’s surprising how you can change the entire dynamic of a mini tho’ with just a tilt of the head, rotate of the body, angle of an arm. Some of the more recent GW stuff allows you to rotate hands as well and come with an enormous amount of items of fine detail that allow you to make no two miniatures alike.
Now granted GW miniatures are used in greater numbers than Infinity so you’ll now see double ups in an Infinity Squad but it would still be nice to be able to make mine totally unique.
It’s still possible to change the position of the arms and alter weapons somewhat on some models, and I’ve seen people proxy models with cleverly painted figures from other factions (even another game, once or twice, but that really shows).
Alternately, I suppose you wouldn’t consider… oh, I don’t know… basing them differently and painting them in different colours ? 😉
Yeh for sure Roman but it’s very hard to change a mini from a “patrol” position to an “aiming” position to a “throwing position” using paint.
Just kidding, magpie…
The Infinity range only produces pretty much one mini at a time for artistic reasons, and many existing units are still not sculpted… However, resculpts have been done, and I know that (at the very least) each model is supposed to get a masculine and feminine figure.
At some point, there will be diversity.
Well, you can always go the classic armswap -route.
Nice releases, as always. Briscards <3
I'm probably going to get Sophotect individually now, so I can paint one in faction colors if I ever go ISS.
