INFINITY Sneak Peek: NEW Combined Army Starter Pack!
November 14, 2014 by dignity
Time for another sneak peek from the guys at Infinity! This month we've been sent images of the brand spanking new Combined Army Starter Pack, and it's looking like a really cool set!
Let's meet the crew! Leading the way we have the Umbra Legates striding out on to the battlefield, armed with a rather cool looking sword. Following him is the Fraacta; a Trihedron drop trooper blasting away with a combi-rifle.
Next it's the heavy hitter of this alien team in the shape of the Maakrep Trackers Unit with HMG. Having this heavy weapon in a starter kit is a really great way to get a feel for just how powerful this kind of trooper can be and your opponent can learn early on how to deal with them!
Last in the line up is the Unidron Batroids with Plasma Carabin. These are your line troopers and will be very useful in the game for setting up your lines of fire and board coverage for ARO's.
Will you be getting them?
Sweet! It’s got that dude that looks like a Sith lord
While the early CA stuff looked a bit too… zany.. for my tastes, this new starter is excellent and – combined with the new Morats – it makes the CA a very appealing option now.
Nice minis! But boring paint scheme…it’s too dark to really show off the detail. Excellent paintjob, as always, but for me it’s the wrong colours.
I agree, they have quite a limited palette with both of these. I still enjoy the green schemes on the older Morats, but it needed to be more natural and subdued. These are 3 colors, red, grey, and black. Same with the newer Morats.
Lovely looking models; probably something to go on the Christmas list.
That said, some Infinity models have proven very fiddly to put together with my big clown hands, so I’m a tad worried how tricky these ones could be (the wings).
I love it… and my small infinity group could use a CA player…
Technically excellent painting on absolutely beautiful looking minis but I echo the sentiment that Corvus have gone with a pretty dull colour scheme.
I’m also amazed at how far Corvus have come with their sculpting and painting, it’s always been top notch but these new figures are bristling with detail to the point where the background sticks out for being bland and amateurish looking by comparison. I know a good background shouldn’t draw attention anyway but it’s quite startling now! Bravo you magnificent Iberian maestros! 😛
I’ll also add that these guys have convinced me to start another faction… a small force though, for now >_>
Welcome to the CA master race you despicable flesh bag! We’ll have you in shape in a month or two and you will fight for Morat glory in no time. Just avoid those disgusting Shasvastii, they have tentacles and have weird past-times.
This are the first CA models I actually like, mostly because of the Sith Lord 🙂
