Infinity Conversion – Gwailo
March 25, 2011 by beerogre
Last December, Corvus Bellireleased the MULTI Rifle Gwailo as a reinforcement unit for the Combined Army.
The Gwailos are the assault troops of the Sectorial Army for the Shasvastii Expeditionary Force, where they can compose a Fireteam of up to 5 models.
The MULTI Rifle Gwailo, is a good Lieutenant option (SWC 0) for the Shasvastii Sectorial Army and complements the Boarding Shotgun Gwailo released some months ago, but how can only 2 figures compose a Fireteam of 3 to 5 miniatures?
Don’t panic, because the detailed modelling work answers this question. As you can see in the pictures, the separate heads and the interchangeable arms provide a wide variety of different positions that allow you to avoid having repeated figures in your Gwailo Fireteam all you need to do is grab more than one blister!
Now you only have to deploy your multi-pose Gwailos onto the game table and let them usher in your victory, always safe behind their protective Nanoscreens!

Awesome look stuff! Can not wait to get my Combined Army stuff in the mail!
Gwailo? really…. Beautiful model, but the name kinda surprised me. I think this is an incredibly hilarious joke. Keep up the good work. Nice to see a company with a sense of humour.
[i]In its background it says: It is said that they can take or conquer any kind of vehicle, spaceship, vessel, building, or facility, without any external support. This was proved during the Second Offensive of Paradiso, when the Armed Imposition Detachment, greatly outnumbered, made their way through a series of well-defended enemy positions in open terrain. Advancing along a narrow isthmus, they took the factory complex of Huà Miàn Systems and obtained another overwhelming victory for the Combined Army. It was a victory that cemented the Yu Jing High Command’s belief that there was no way of retaking Xiongxiang city.… Read more »
Yes, I get that, but it’s one of those ethnically inflected words with long history attached to it. It means lots of different things…and if you keep reading the wiki article, you’ll see that people still have mixed feelings about the term. I have a few Chinese friends who explained to me that even in contemporary usage, “ghost” means, not human, sub human, or “other” which is not a compliment. Either way, I think it’s funny and I’m not offended by the term in any way. It’s not one of those words that you hear a lot in North America.
Given it is how the human troops named this unit and not how the unit is really named, I can guess the fact that it is not a compliment gets well with the background.
Not saying it doesn’t, I’m just saying it’s hilarious how they managed to slip that word in there. Kind of like how feminists have re-claimed the word “bitch”…they’ve taken a word that was an insult and appropriated it. Clever and funny in my opinion. I’m not saying it’s bad or inappropriate…just a little more daring and edgy than most gaming companies. and that in my opinion is a very good sign.
There are quite a few instances were things like this happen in Infinity miniatures line and it s cool it allows new models without the need of new sculpts. 🙂
