Infinity 3rd Edition Week – New Rules: Templates
October 14, 2014 by crew
Let's take a look at the next of the big changes to the rules for Infinity 3rd Edition! Our buddy Carlos talks us through how the rules for Template Weapons have changed and how it's going to effect your games in the future!
What do you think of the changes?
hell yeah first to post … later for some contents after the video ;P
this is really interesting and seems SOLID!
I really love that the templates have a slight negative effect on grouped troops, the first guy can dodge but the guy behind gets a face-full 🙂
I like that all these rules work the same with all the templates of the same type – this will make it faster and allow for cross familiarity – if I know how my YuJing shotgun template works, I know how your Ariadna Missile template works – I like it a lot.
Also – That was an epic room clearing demo!
I really like the way DTW work now.
I call for a reroll !!! great stuff guys.
…Kind of not very logical…But definitely more standardised for everyone
Are the templates horizontal AND vertical – or both?
They are treated as both. Essentially imagine the template fills the whole area that would be encompassed if you spun them along their axis.
or one or the other I meant
The new Template stuff will work great for sure and Love the Boarding Shotgun <3
Loving this week, thank you so much 🙂
Bring on the HFTs!!!
OK,
Shotguns have gotten a lot more interesting. My one concern however, is that speed of play might be slowed down a bit when people have to swap in silhouette templates to figure out where they can place the origin of the template. It could get a little dodgy if you’re eyeballing it just using the model. I’ll be curious to read the entire text to fully understand how this actually works.
Ok, now I can comment. WELL, it’s kind of an interesting turn to standardize template so much, but it seems helpful as like that, it avoids much of the confusion and streamline interactions among models. So in order to have neat rules it’s welcome! All in all it’s not so illogical as it seems firsthand sometimes we just need to make acquaintance to the new standard and be gone with ye old ways of dealing in situations like these in N2. So as it help to enjoy gaming, hail N3 rules’ simplifications! I want to stress also that if as… Read more »
This rule set is getting better and better
Great to finally see some more infos on N3. I’m excited.
This will make everything much easier to get to grips with the system
God, now I know where those 275 pages of rules are coming from, terminal templates got all the complexness extracted from every other rule.
silhouette uses are interesting. think it will only be used when something is ambigues and you just have to be sure. Most of the situations you will figure it out without the silhouette. A lot is clearified a lot. im affraid template weapons like flames and chainrifle will become obsolete because you can get out save fairly easy dodge roll + arm roll. While you can shoot another weapon with an higher burst and more change to hit etc. only cheap troops might want to keep them. Will see how things work out. I’m happy they clarified a lot of… Read more »
I cannot find those silhouette on Wararsenal, am I blind? 🙂
they were pulled, and are now waiting to be released. Maybe next week if Carlos is revealing them and using them this week.
They were on their website for one day, but they pulled the listing and refunded all the orders because CB didn’t want them to sell templates until N3 was fully released.
by ‘templates’ I of course mean silhouette templates
This is sounding better and better!
Very good, great week guys
Curioser and curioser, loving all these new changes.
I shall have to see how these rules work out on the table. I like the explanation.
Looking awesome. I am really glad they are adding so many graphic examples, and including more complex situations. I am beginning to understand why the rules are 280+ pages.
Would be nice if these things could be explained with game play examples.
Oops, I should have watched all the way through
