HiTech Viking Lord… On a Wolf!
July 11, 2011 by dracs
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a weapon must be in want of a wolf.
Well HiTech Miniatures are here to help us fill this gap in our lives, check out the Great Viking Lord Tyr Ulvar Stormbringer on Panzer Wolf.
What do all you guys think of these? Personally I rather like the wolves but I'm not totally sure about the rider. Let us know your opinions.
Hmmmm…the wolf looks more like a bear and the scale of it compared to the rider looks odd…they should of gone a little more over the top on the riders armour/attachments imho. Not one I will be buying, especially as I don’t play Space Wolves!! 😛
I don’t like the look of the armour on the wolfs front legs, and the rider is pretty static.
Is it me or does the wolf hide a sly grin? I fail to see what the joke is 🙂
I agree Caz…the leg armour looks a little off. I think the rider looks better, but is a little static.
Could be better, could be worse – still it’s better than not having a model if Viking Lord’s on insanely big wolves is your thing 😉
They look very happy. 40k is not a happy game!
Surprised to see companies still pissing up this tree. I just hope when GW finally release their wolves, they look like wolves.
The wolf looks like a rejected concept from “Golden Compass” and the anatomy of the rider is beyond ridicule.
If you’re going to copy/homage a GW figure, then at least try to improve on it. And let’s face it, this is aimed predominantly at the 40K market (of which I am not a fan of, BTW).
Dreadful.
They sort of remind me of the wolves in the movie “Princess Mononoke”
I just watched that yesterday and I kind of see what your getting at.
I don’t mind the rider’s pose tbh given that the wolf is walking
If he was in some dynamic position it would look at odds with the wolf.
Don’t mind the large head too much as it is a scifantasy space wolf wolf and it is good to see one actually big enough to support a SM
Fangs and leg armour are a bit off putting for me though
Sorry, don’t like them. There are better wolves out on the market right now.
That wolf is not that bad as some in here think it to be.
This isn’t a very good pose… i’m sure the sculpt is detailed enough, but the wolf looks like it’s trying to walk on ice with a nervous grin and cumbersome armor, and the rider just looks like a little doll stuck on his back. It’s all very stiff… I’m disappointed, as this brand has done much, much better, and much more scenic.

It look all rithe, but I wood not call it a lord. It dosn’t look grand ey-nof. Maybe it wood help if the wolf wasn’t smiling.
Too static for my liking – should have a lot more movement in it.
Just noticed the fatal error of the wolf’s pose: It is suffering from “Spotty Dog Syndrome” Few, apart from Darrell and other oldies, 😛 , will know what I am on about so for the benefit of young whippersnappers I will explain. The Woodentops had the biggest spotty dog the world had ever seen, and he walked, unlike most quadrapeds, by moving his right legs together, and in opposition to the left side. However this may be intentional as I understand that there is a breed of horse used by the Mongols iirc, that trot this way and so is… Read more »
I just don’t see a wolf, its more a badger or wolverine. Besides that this is what is grin should have looked like
