HiTech Miniatures Rev Up the Xyster Jetbike
October 30, 2012 by brennon
Check out the Xyster Jetbike below from HiTech Miniatures. This one might be quite an acquired taste so take a look at it and then see what you think...
While I can see what they were going for at the rear of the vehicle and the drivers position the front just doesn't look right to me. It might be that it just looks like a flying tin can but it seems a little too comical for my taste.
It will be interesting to see what you guys think.
Let me know below.
Wow. They are proper turkey. I WONT be picking any of these up. Big let down from Hi-Tec.
I think it’s a fresh and unique design, a mashup of early 20th-century and sci-fi elements. The engine is reminiscent of the radially-mounted piston cylinders of the aircraft between the World Wars, and the chunky front gives it the heavy and powerful feel of the Wildcat/Hellcat fighters of WWII. All in all, I think it exudes gritty, raw, and very loud, POWER.
Make that the P-47 Thunderbolt. I built a kit of one of those when I was a kid, so maybe the Xyster jet-bike feels like familiar ground. The P-47 even had a checker pattern on the cowling — a precognition of Ork design! In any case, I dig it.
It is possible that only one person got this design idea Or maybe no any modellers here ? 🙁
I might like the Xyster better if it had a turbofan on that flat front end.
They look better than FW effort in my opinion, not saying much mind.
FW gave us the flying dildo, now HiTech give us the flying fleshlight.
I was thinking the exact same thing
Talk about overcompensating for something!
The front section’s too short; makes it look like an old Duplo / Playmobil style plane. They should’ve stuck with the Scimitars’ vintage race car styling & progressed that. Off-set the pilot to one side, weapons to the other… or maybe move him further forward still, like an Auto Union Type C
