Wait, YOU got something wrong? Thats unheard of!!
Sorry Big D. I believe that you hit immobilized walkers VS. their weapon skill, but yes it is still resolved vs the front armor.
mmm… I prefer to describe effect of haywire grenades as, click beep beep…..
BOOOOM! but if you need to go into the technicalitys of it then, each to his own.
Haywire grenades have always been more of an electromagnetic pulse generator, overloading electronic systems and generally messing with anything that doesn’t have enough shielding to stop it.
So more… click beep beep FZAAP *fancy light show* BOOOM!
Swooping Hawks as Flash Gordon Birdmen…

Sounds like a wonderful conversion idea for an army.
i would love to be that monolith right after the opponent whiffs the damage table just to move and drop the hurt on those winged space elves
Darrell also forgot that he needs to hit first with the attacks. Hawks hit on 4+ regardless of speed or some similar rule if I am not mistaken (dont have the codex here).
Also you need to consider that they are T3 5+ and cant assault when they arrive via DS so they are going to die before they have their chance to blow a vehicle.
It is still interesting option against Monolith, but against anything else, fire dragons are cheaper and better option.
oh no darell wrong!!!! :O
btw haywire grenades aren’t upgrades they’re stock.
Also i have a question, if a swooping hawk exarch takes intercept, (exarch power) which says that the squad “never require worse than 4+ to hit vehicles,” fights a walker would you still say 6’s to hit or is this a wonderful case of codex overruling the rule book?
“Anybody with wings growing out their back, angel like, looks cool.”
I think Darrel is trying to become Sanguinor’s “blessed” sarge. ;-).
Haywire grenades are amazing! Especially for Dark Eldar. I take them left right and centre! Theyre a 4pt piece of wargear and they usually round up points in 10’s as the squad leader upgrades are normally 6 points. Wyches can all take them. A squad of 20 haywire armed mad people piling out of the warp! Well its much more effective to take 10 in a raider. Ive killed loads with that technique in the past, vindicators, monoliths and all sorts. Didnt know about the always hitting dreadnoughts on 6’s. I thought it was a WS thing. But another point… Read more »
Yes, the grenades itself are ok, BUT the unit using them is one of the worst in the codex. Nobdy uses them these days. I sometimes take a small squad for fungames, because i like the models so much and i like how the grenade launcher annoys the enemy. It’s not that easy to attack enemy vehicles with your Hawks. If they could do it in the same turn they deep strike, they would be worth it, but unfortunatly they are overcosted and underpowered.
Like everything in the eldar or dark eldar codexes!
erraticsteel… I think I read somewhere, maybe an errata, that intercept was only of use against vehicles without a WS. That’s the way I played em and it works out better… as the exarch is usually hitting on a 3+. I takes what I can gets… Anyway.. yeah the poor Swooping Hawk, great model.. maybe not everyone’s taste but dynamic and well designed. Great piece of kit, but otherwise a pants unit. Because of their point cost and since everyone is at least somewhat aware what they can do to vehicles they get annihilated if they get too close to… Read more »
