With all the excitement around Dreadball and Kings of War, Warpath has seemed to slip off the radar. We get a chance to pin Ronnie down about the future of the Mantic sci-fi battle game.

Sounds promising…
Nice to see that Mantic don’t only throw info at the community but freely admit when a design idea misses the mark and then work to correct it
Is there a toilet with a rat plushie behind the display case in Ronnie’s solo shots? Ha! I can’t wait for the Forgefathers army to be built up!
Oh so very pleased that Mantic are about getting it right.
Warpath has so much potential to be utterly briliant!
KoW in space simply didnt do it justice.IMO.
Odd how Fantasy Battle in space, didnt get past Beta at Mantic.
Yet some other companies manage 6 editions of it, and dont appear to see the problems….
(Mind you they admit thier customers are primarily collectors not gamers.)
I look forward to seeing how Warpath progresses. I participated in the first beta of the rules and didn’t find the game that enjoyable. I also didn’t like the fact that they recycled parts of the KoW models to make the Warpath models. However, after following the Dreadball Kickstarter and seeing some of these new alien and robot races I can’t wait to see them in a Warpath setting and seeing how the rules change.
I wonder if Ronnie would look at a virtual rule book, like war room / army builder hybrid sorta where like character stats and even scenario’s all subject to direct players input. I dunno even a server where different groups of people could go, to play one certain style of game and then go to another room to embrace yet another. To where the game continues to morph to each individuals interests concerning war games. Skirmish, full epic scale that lasts 3 months, objective based… Instead of releasing pdf’s or tons of rebooting books like other companies just create a… Read more »
@dawn: There’s some interesting stuff going on with creative commons licensing that will allow exactly that to happen if players want, essentially Mantic will be 100% fine with people creating forks of the game on a non-profit basis.
I’m quite eager to see the updated rules downloads for both Warpath and KoW put online ASAP, they’re both extremely out of date at the moment (by several months) on the Mantic site. The outdated Warpath is 1.0 on there for download currently, and the KoW downloads are incomplete, missing the army lists and magic items.
Right on, Mantic is one of those companies you just want to see grab the whole shootin’ match by the balls and run like a scalded dog.
I have always really liked the fact that Ronnie always reaches out to the players and actually includes us in the process and development concerning Warpath and other ventures.
Pretty cool dude indeed
Thank you, thank you for coming out with what everyone knew. Space fantasy is not what we wish to have with Warpath. If he is true to his word, I truly hope to see strange aliens in the future of this game. The Dreadball being apart of the warpath universe shows a bit of what we can expect from them.
I don’t think Ronnie was actually saying Warpath is not going to be “space fantasy” … I think he was subtly saying they shouldn’t have reused the plastic moulds from their fantasy ranges…
Drop Alessio for Warpath and get Thorton to do it.
The future of Warpath is looking bright!
He certainly talks the talk, wonder if they deliver? I certainly hope so but I suspect it’s going to take quite a while.
Well with the holiday season coming up ,
Here’s a stocking stuffer to keep ya busy while you wait….

I like the way Warpath is going, there are some really nice minis and I think the fluff will develop into something really epic. I do think the game needs quite a bit more work though, its not quite as easy to learn as Kings of War and its pretty unbalanced at the moment (if you want to win, use Forge Fathers…). I’d suggest a full release next year might be a little optimistic. I’ve no doubt Warpath will be great but perhaps it needs another beta edition after the current one and then release version 4.0 as the full… Read more »
I have not played the game however I do have a good chunck of ork models in my Army and they are fantastic. I do hope to play a game but its tough trying to find ppl to do so. ATM
