Guard Holy Terra With The Space Marine Sentinels

Following hot on the heels of the Adepta Sororitas Codex there is also going to be a digital edition of the Sentinels of Terra Codex thanks to Black Library and the Games Workshop Digital Editions. Are you going to be joining the ranks of the Imperial Fists?
I have to say that apart from having to work out how to paint yellow properly it would be awesome to start an Imperial Fist army for Warhammer 40,000. I love the codex artwork that you see above too. It's really evocative and shows off the true side of the Space Marines as practically walking tanks!
This mighty codex follows in the path of other supplements and should bring a new dose of flavour to your Imperial Fist army. Of course they have been given some extra bonuses via the basic codex but I assume we'll see a lot more from this book. Also if you do love fluff these are quite neat additions to your library, regardless of the cost.
The artwork is what is really swinging it for me right now and while I doubt I will dive in and get it I can't wait to see what happens further down the line for Space Wolves with their own main codex.
Do you collect Imperial Fists?

I thought you were supposed to invent your own chapter, the ones in the book being mere examples… Oops, sorry, that’s heretical thoughts from past millenia…
Shhhh…don’t rock the boat 😉
For my part I quite like the idea of supplements, however they should a) be cheaper and b) contain more stuff – a couple of characters or a new unit or two wouldn’t go amiss, neither would a painting guide of some description. It’s sad GW feel they can’t create rules without having minis (more often than not) these days.
That said a DIY Chapter Supplement wouldn’t be a bad thing but will never happen. I do quite like the Imperial FIsts from a background POV though, although yellow can be a pain to get right.
Some people like to invent their own chapters and some put a huge effort into creating their own fluff. Other players like to collect one of the GW chapters. Neither is doing it the right or wrong way.
How about a chapter based on over zealous librarians who present Certificatio Cessationatum est Dessitium
That would be fun
With legal skirmishers fighting to preserve a crumbling monopoly.
You were never “supposed to” invent your own chapter. That was always an option, and still is, but it has never once been the case that either you invent your own or you’re doing it wrong.
Personally, I’m just happy that the core Space Marine codex a lot less Ultramarines-centric than previous versions.
These supplements earn their place right from the get go because they expand the Fluff of modern day Lore in 40K Games. The Imperial Fists guarding Holy Terra certainly qualify. Its a level of committment to the fluff from GW that I thought was well gone. More realistically though its probably just good business sense from their point of view. I.e easily available cash. Either way I know that their a good source of banter for players and its a trend that will be continued for the next four years. Isnt that the cycle their on ? Bring on the… Read more »
Huh, I’ve recently started an Imperial Fists army as a matter of fact (although I’m focusing on Flames of War atm), so this codex is absolutely brilliant for me, and is one of the few things I’m willing to buy from GW at the moment (the other is a print copy of Farsight Enclaves supplement)
Never been a fan of the fists, but I’m hoping the 30k counterparts will be good. Roll on the seige of terra.
Scratch the own Chapter and scratch set up rules of not doing it, i make my own Legion instead. And there Primarch still lives but he is to busy atm to take to the field.
Yes, my comment was half in jest, but looking back at Rogue Trader, there was virtually no information on even the “official” chapters (and the heresy and the founding chapter stuff just didn’t exist) — even the likes of Ultramarines and Space Wolves were really just names tacked on sample color schemes.
I mean, why go to great lengths to explain there are 1000 chapters, if you’re only supposed to play with a dozen or so of them?
P.S. Still waiting for that Rainbow Warriors codex…
Where does it say that you are supposed to play one of GW’s chapters? You can if you want to, but you don’t have to. You never had to. The new SM codex even gives rules on how to handle chapters of your own creation in the game.
The Sons of Uranus. Has a ring to it.
Chapter symbol, a picture of an arse with a mushroom cloud above it.
