Ground Spider Terrain

Tired of fighting to make your seedlings take root in partially terraformed soil? Fed up with native species trying to kill your precious plants? What you need is the T-Anqebut Edaphologic Device from Selmek Geoindustries!

The success of the T-Anqebut (an acronym of Tulaubt Anqebut, الأرض العنكبوت, or Ground Spider) Device is due to its reliable GAP (Ground Analysis and Preservation) system.
It has been demonstrated that the safest way to preserve cultivations in extraterrestrial terrain still undergoing the terraforming process is to have continuous control over soil composition.
Any colonist knows soil is a natural resource that provides seedlings with the necessary nutritional support (water, oxygen, microorganisms…) to survive and grow.
Thanks to its GAP system, the T-Anqebut Edaphologic Device automatically performs a detailed series of analyses that the colonist can program through an easy and intuitive interface. These analyses study the main variables (Conductivity, Nitrogen, Potassium, pH…) to evaluate the prime fertilization requirements and toxicity levels, with the T-Anqebut injecting any biochemical compounds needed to keep the balance required for fertile and productive soil.
The T-Anqebut Device honours its name of “Ground Spider” thanks to its mobility system, allowing it to cover cultivation areas in a pre-programmed series of patterns a colonist can adjust to his/her needs.
Remember, Selmek Geoindustries has the perfect solution for the problems of any colonist!

GROUND SPIDER BUILDING PROCESS

Here you have another piece of scenery created for use on an Infinity game table, the T-Anqebut Edaphologic Device, or the Ground Spider.

As you can see in Picture 1, this time I based the piece on part of the masks we use in the casting area of our workshop. As we have several of these to spare I had the chance to “mass produce” various similar scenery objects.

To adapt them to the scenery item we had in mind, it was necessary to have them stand up as straight as possible, so I placed their legs in a manner similar to the base of old alarm clocks.

For the first detailing phase I used: Plasticard, pieces taken from some figures from the Infinity range, steel wire, some ballpoint springs, a piece of plastic tube, a transparent plasticard sheet and a thin anti-mosquito grille.

As you can see in Pictures 2 and 3, I had to add some containers and pieces taken from some Infinity T.A.G.s and Remotes so the rear area would be more detailed.

One of the most outstanding things about the rear part is the effect created by placing some cables from the rear legs to the rear casing of the device. Due to the shine of the cables, taken from earphones, it seems as if there is some kind of fluid passing below their transparent surface.

Once finished, there only remains to prime them and decide on their color pattern.

As you can see, the main color is a medium grey and I tried to bring out some pieces with orange color. I used green and also a bit of blue to be applied directly and also to shade in the grey areas. To finish, an earthy brown color was applied to the bottom of the legs, providing a worn effect.

Highlights were achieved using white, ice yellow, and yellow colors. Apart from that, the shading was managed with black and a bit of red coloring.

As it can be seen in the final pictures, to paint a medium-sized scenery item it is not necessary to use a wide and varied color palette. Just by employing a brief color palette, the final look is impressive enough and realistic too.

Just to finish, I would like to point out that by recycling stuff you can make very curious and effective scenery items to make your Infinity game tables more exciting.

I hope you like our Ground Spiders and I encourage you to keep recreating the futuristic elements that shape the Infinity universe using objects from around your home.
