Why give landraiders extra armor when they have psychic pilot and fortitude? Testing on LD10 to get rid of stuns and shakens seems that it would do the job pretty much all of the time without spending points.
For everybody. I always take extra armour on my landraiders and would take extra armour on a Grey Knights landraider. Because the simple fact is that you WILL fail the psychic test when you really need it. A landraider is to expensive to take any chances with
Also a lot or armies can pack anti psychic defences.
Nids and Eldar can make you test on 3d6, Marines have Hoods, and Space Wolves have runic weapons (or 4+ and naff off sonny)
Just a note….you can’t use any upgrade options on the additional terminators he receives after being wounded, they only have default wargear. The last video hinted at him being the last to be removed but page 40 of the codex mentions ” If Mordrak is removed as a casualty, the Ghost Knights lose their connection to the mortal world and are also removed”. Does this indicate that Mordrak can be targeted in combat? If so you stand to lose all your unit. This was the first HQ I settled on a few weeks back purely because of the fun you… Read more »
No, he can’t be targeted, but he could be killed due to wound allocation.
Or by JOTWW, or by eldrad/eldar, or by templar’s paladin of the emperor, or by a vindicare, or by the JOTWW GK flamer version. I do think there are no more things that can snipe out Mordrak. 🙂
PS: to counter eldars, just put two dreads beside you ( 12″ or less away), -9Ld you say? Not even eldrad gets that one 😉
Oh forgot to mention. If an enemy unit is wihin 12″ of your dread, and the enemy try’s to dope them with some psipower ( them selves or a psiker away from the unit) the -4Ld still aplies….
Just saying that the 135pts Crusader/mortis pattern dreadnought is a great investment.
looks like a good force. really liking this guy and may have to convert a core unit for him hehe (thinking ghostly greenish colours or maybe blues and replacing the legs with swirly misty stuff)
You could also use jaws to snipe him. In combat you’re stuck, though.
Oh wait, the brotherhood champion could use his heroic sacrifice too.
Psychostroke grenades work whether you assault OR are assaulted.
i think you should be able to target him by shooting at him with telion from the marine book as he allows his controling played to allocate the wounds caused by his shooting
Chaos Sorcerer can use the Gift of Chaos psychic power (not sure if this name is correct) and pick any model I think even if it’s in combat and turn into a spawn. I lost my chaper master like that.
Yep, milesyale and dave1990 both have it right 🙂
Why are you giving a heavy weapon to a power armored assault troops. As for the razorbacks spend 5 more points on each and give them assault cannons with Psybolt ammo 4 shots of S7 twinlinked rending that can not only take troops but has a 12.8% chance to leave a land raider a pile of scrap (wracking or exploded), where that las/pas only has a 3.8% chance of wracking or exploded land raider. plus you can use the sweet FW psycannon turret for the razorback (same weapon profile as an assualt cannon with psybolt ammo).
I know who can pick him out in combat! Lukas the Trickster!! Errr, well… you have to die first…
No need for extra armor, fortitude page 33 will do the job just fine
Scout sergeant Telion could pick him out… but he surely wouldn’t be able to even wound him
Brotherhood champion the turn that he assaults, he gets to reroll hits because of titan heraldry, does this mean that he gets to reroll the heroic sacrifice blow if he dies the first turn? and if he does which its a 1/9 chances he will fail, he is the best character to take down big point sink characters because he nominates which character he attacks. So logan grimnar or the night bringer becomes obsolete against this guy, he can also do perfect defence which can tie a big character down for to long, so for a 100pts this guy is… Read more »
you can pick mordrak out with jaws of the world wolf, as per the faq you can select which models are targeted by placing the line over them
I haven’t read the book yet so i don’t know what these guys do to mess with psychers but if you got lucky a farseer could pick him out with Mind war.
im not sure where to find grand master mordrak because i didnt see him on the GW list and i ever searched his name. i canr find ghost knights either so i dont even know what any of that stuff looks like. also, what does it mean to have another grand master but un named? does that mean you can just make a guy and call him a grand master? or does un named mean you just choose another grand master in the army? im somewhat new to 40k and totally new to grey knights but i love the sound… Read more »
Mordrak’s in the codex, but he hasn’t gotten a model yet so they won’t be covering him much on the GW site. Same deal with his Ghost Knights but I doubt they’ll ever get a model since using GK Terminators with a fancy paint-job’ll work perfectly. As for the grand-master; every 40k army has generic HQ oprions who are unnamed and can be kitted out with most wargear that the army has at it’s disposal. Named characters are sort of specialist leaders; often having wargear and/or rules that the generic ones don’t have at the cost of little to no… Read more »
heres a little tactic ive found funny.corteaz, 8 pskyers, 1 monkey in a rhino,
another Inquiz with 8 psykers,1 monkey chimera.
stick some more units in rhinos.
get a culuxus assasin. getting an extra shot for every psyker within 12″. just from the inquisiters psykers, your getting 18, S:5 AP:1 shots. yes they are range 12, BUT. when you shoot it with BS:8. your bound to hit.
Also, the more grey knights within 12 inches of him, the more shots you get ;D
I do not know if the tactic above works because on page 51 it states that all psykers in the unit count as a single psyker for the purpose of passing a psychic test. I can make an argument for both that it does count as multiple psykers that the single psyker only work for psykik test, because they all taking a perils of the warp if they fail. As a single psyker, I can make the argument because you only taking one psychic test you only count as a single psyker. I do not know what’s right or wrong… Read more »
Mordrak is the best character in the Codex and certainly the most competitive for Tourneys.
I prefer Draigo, just for his insane survivability in Paladin squads, but for lower points games, I would definitely take Mordrak. 400ish points for Mordrak and his unit is a bargain. You don’t need to transport them in a ‘raider or ‘raven and they will be a target from turn one, meaning your other stuff will most likely survive.
How many points was this list? Did I miss it in the video?
1750. Same as the Draigo list they did. Wish they’d use the running list of units like what they had back in Blood Angels Week and ‘Nid Week.
you can deep strike into terrain but you take a dangerous terrain test. You only miss hap if you 1) go off the board 2) scatter within 1″ of your models or the enemies models
Ain’t too bad of a list. I think I’m starting to warm up to this codex a bit.
Would a Stormraven work in place of the Land Raider Redeemer? Thoughts?
Personally, I’m thinking the GK benefit more from the Stormraven than the BA. It’s survives more than the BA one and it also is a little more Killy with the Psybolt Ammo.
I’m not saying Raiders are bad, they are Raiders after all, but Stormravens are a little better IMO.
eldar farseers with mind war can pick him out of his unit
tellion can pick him out
SW with JotWW can pick him out (yeah, I know it’s a psychic power, but still…)
