Time for a look at what the guys from Corvus Beli have been up to at gen con, as Wildchevy has set up his camera to watch our friend Carlos present a seminar at Gen Con 2013,
The future of Infinity looks better and better, Dire Fores will add a nice layer of immersion in the Infinity background and interesting new entries on the factions army lists.
The new ITS season looks like a big improvement over the already good present ITS season and the Warcorps program is something much awaited by the community.
But I don’t understand why so much was cut out. Many of the previews of reworked models aren’t here. The Morat face lift with awesome new armor design for example. Including the shots of the upcoming Morat aggression starter box. There is a poster here called Dormicom or something. He has the whole thing which is like 2 hours. Don’t know why so much was edited out.
Because streamlining it for a wider audience is always good, especially when the complete video is available elsewhere. Not everyone wants everything. Not everyone has the time.
For example, my video tutorials are about four to eight times as long as the final edited video… Thank goodness for @Dignity !
I know I’m feeding trolls, here, but… Aren’t you happy to have learned maths and reading in school with textbooks that weren’t encyclopedias of all things maths and letters from day one ? Aren’t you happy that you can first get a book to familiarize yourself with a subject, then get deeper info later on ? What exactly is your problem with this concept ? It’s just that people here (professional video-makers, I might add) know that people don’t respond well to videos that are several hours long. They simply don’t tend to click on them as much if they’re… Read more »
There is no attempt to troll here. At least not by me. Merely a comment on the presentation of certain information. Having experience with the film and television industry here in the US including working on shows, I know the value of condensing information. As informative as it may be watching paint dry in a video it’s still watching paint dry. So this is obviously cut in the interest of time. But if it’s news and it’s cut then it ceases to be news and becomes an editorial. I say this only because had I not stumbled upon this elsewhere… Read more »
Well, @spaderfish, all journalism is a selection and/or an opinion. It is, however, definitely NOT an editorial, since this is indeed recounting fact. I take it you don’t agree with the way the selection was done (or that there was a selection at all). Nevertheless, it has proved useful already : a selection HAD to be made for Youtube viewers, and the final result is faithful to the jist and main purpose of the presentation, even if some of it had to be omitted. And yes, I’m saying HAD TO BE. People don’t do the editing out of the goodness… Read more »
Just joking. I’ve read it all and I agree with you. You guys at Beasts of War are doing a great job and time is indeed a thing wich comes in short supply.
Keep up the good work guys and, oh! Just one more thing: Infinity really rocks! This Dire Enemy range looks awesome! So much good ideas are coming out of Corvus Belli!
Gotta say that I love the down to earth attitude of the Corvus guys. I just hope that they can get big enough to be able to invest cash to make plastic (not restic) minis one day.
Metals and plastics are two different worlds. With metal casting CB can make however many prints of a sculpt that they need and recycle all the leftover material. Whereas with plastics they would have to hire out to a Chinese company with a large batch order. Plasics might be easier for a hobbist but they dont work well for some companies.
Am I the only disturbed by the idea of the second phase of the Infinity fiction and how the model range is going to reflect that? Call me a whiny crybaby but the idea of my faction becoming a ‘shadow of its former self’, and possibly losing models, worries me. Some Yu Jing players were up in arms about Ko Dali, what if some factions lost even more than just one model?
On a positive note, Dire Foes looks like a fantastic amount of fun.
I will have to agree with @elromanozo, the video edit is short enough to digest and to the point. It illustrates CB is a down to earth company that acknowledges its success, but have not had their minds blown by it, putting the longevity of their company and the fans above the risks of rapid and maybe uncontrollable expansion. It shows the new themed release witch is dire foes and illustrates what advantages and advancements it will have on the overall game experience and showcases a few things from the future. Morats were not the main course of this seminar,… Read more »

Very excited!

i do what i can 🙂 and try to take out all the paint drying time 🙂
Yes but who defines who wants what ?
I think this video is already super niche and appeals to just a very small core audience and why go elsewhere when you can just fast forward ?

Same goes with walls of text! 😉

They also tend to not produce such great sculpts, at least not without a big parts breakdown.
I could buy resin Infinity miniatures… But plastic ?
No, no, no.
Not until casting has made a LOT of progress.
