Games Workshop Prepare to Bring Death From the Skies
March 11, 2013 by dracs
With flyers becoming an ever more important part of Warhammer 40,000, Games Workshop have released a new book to help you engage in the battles for air superiority.
Death From the Skies is a soft cover compendium, featuring pieces from White Dwarf, the Crusade of Fire supplement, as well as some brand new stuff and plenty of cool fluff.
In this book you will find details for some cool flyer based scenarios and some optional rules for dogfighting and flyer aces in the worlds of Warhammer 40k.
At Tabletop Nation we have a fantastic Flyers challenge where players can use Death from the Skies (or Crusade of Fire) along with 500 points of Flyers from their army book to clash over the boiling seas and arid landscapes of the 41st Millennium.
Will you be going up, up and away to become the Biggles of 40k?

I guess this means the Croissants of Doom are now on my shopping list. 😛

I just new that GW were behind all those chemtrails.
Please tell me this isn’t all the coverage this book is going to get.
This isn’t all the coverage this book will get.
HTH
This book has already gotten to much coverage.
A book made of old White Dwarf articles???
I remember when I got my ‘Avy Metal Painting Guide. So happy until I opened it….
Sold it on ebay for retail straight away.
Would you like to also mention it is written in English?
Hasn’t this been available for like a month now?
How is one supposed to do close combat from one of these things? Might have to convrrt on a couple of swords or axes onto the hull. 😉
Wonder if the Grav-Attack tank that Jervis Johnson built using a shower gel bottle back in chapter approved 2004 will be usable?

its a flyer!
Shower gel bottle that rains down death from the skies…
because your worth it! lol
Hmm, you seem to have mis-typed Rick Priestly’s name as Jervis Johnson, and the year 1987 as 2004. 😛
only get htis if u ply orks over wis u dont need it
Or Black Templars, or Space Marines.
Or better yet don’t waste £20 on 2 sides of A4 that you will actually use, padded out with half an issue of White Dwarf’s worth of reprints and stock photos.
I think the regular 6×4 gaming board will look more like a book shelf that a terrain piece imho. Rulebook, Codex, Death from the skies FW book (if playing old SM army) your army list also. I hope they are resizing the deployment zones to accommodate the books! Or will the game of 40K be played on a chess board in the middle of a 6×4? LOL I consider this an evolutionary change in gaming. Those silly enough to buy yet more over priced, zero rated VAT items deserve to die of starvation. As they will just bring another rule… Read more »
You forgot the printed reams of erratas and FAQs
I would of thought that was obvious as we thought alike Chibicharoo ma boy.
Erratas on the walls and the FAQ’s on the ceilings. Do you not appreciate the actual safe working load of the average gaming table? Pffft!! 😛 hehe
also, drinking must be contained within a camelbac so that it doesn’t go missing in action on the table. Else Kim and Aggie may have to come around to investigate the mould. 😛
I would be knacked from FAQ tacking before the game started!
or if you prefer, I would be completely FAQ’d.
Now now Chibi, that was a totally ERRATAtional response, and I expect better from someone who is worth £17.21!!!
I used to be a poster boy
The only job I could get was fly posting.
People don’t like having glue brushed over their crotch and an ad for a student union gig slapped on. Not a nice job
Tried complaining but was told to zip it
Well if you had done that near me, I would have pasted you.
So you had better brush up your act, or you’ll find yourself in a sticky situation.
Oh bucket, I love ya really you sloppy git. 😛
I this book even worth getting?
This book is a total scam! Do not buy it unless you are a Vanilla Marines or Black Templars player as this book is totally useless to you if you play any other army. To quote GW, ‘There are rules for using the Stormraven Gunship with a Codex: Space Marines and Black Templars army; updated rules for the range of Warhammer 40,000 Flyer models, including bestiary and army list entries for the following codexes: Black Templars, Blood Angels, Dark Eldar, Grey Knights, Imperial Guard, Necrons, Orks and Space Marines.’ Its all lies! There are no ‘updates’ whatsoever in this book… Read more »
I play DA and GK so I suppose that means I don’t need it even if I have 2 fliers, right?
Dark Angels already have all their flyers up to date in their codex, so they don’t benefit from it. Grey Knights get a new type of missile which (I think) are worse than the ones in their codex.
Use the money for minis or something instead.
@Darkmarine999
Dont bother buying it. They are simply re-prints of the rules you already have within your grey knights codex. There are no new missiles either, they are the just the Blood Strike missiles that Blood Angels get. It does say no other army can have these.
There is some new content. Space Marines and Black Templars, and I think also Grey Knights have a new type of missile for the Stormraven Gunship.
Also some points values are slightly different.
But yeah, absolute waste of paper.
