Elder Wasp Assault Walker
February 18, 2011 by beerogre
So Forge World are bringing out a new Assault Walker for the Eldar... I didn't think that Wasps did much walking?
But then again it's an "assault" walker so maybe it jumps or something. There are some experimental rules for the model so you can use it in an (non-sanctioned) 40K game.
I suppose this release is the follow on from the Eldar Hornet released a while ago... I'm detecting a theme of annoying insects with stings... I wonder if we'll get a robber fly?
Tell me something. Would you guys buy more Forge World stuff if you could use it in tournaments?

of course we’d buy more if we could use the pieces.
Ya making a 45pt plus weapons model that can guarantee a first turn assault is just asking for those organizers on the fence for allowing forge world models to sway to the side of ….no.
i agree and i also think that gw would earn more to take the death korps of krieg kits and casting them in plastic for cheaper prices than forgeworld
Its nice to see Forge World so something other than space marines, but I really do wish they’d fill in the gaps in army books and codices before doing new stuff.
yeah especially since it would probably sell well. e.g. with dark eldar if they filled any gaps: there are models in there which won’t be made for absolutely ages because there’s so many unit options, so it won’t be ‘competing’ with the GW version for a while, so people will have longer to think about buying it…
@cazboab – You forget though. If FW decides to fill in the gaps, should GW decide to start making the same model, FW immediately lose sales to the extent where it becomes a non-viable product… if they’re even allowed to continue to sell it. If however, they make their own codex additions (even if they’re not tournament legal) GW are never going to make that model, so they can continue to sell it… even if the codex changes… the jackpot would be that model is included in a new codex. Did that happen with the Dark Eldar Fighter thing? Or… Read more »
The fighters in the Dark Eldar codex are armed slightly differently to the ones FW do, its not a big thing, and I think there’s actually an option you could easily fudge to fit the rules around the model, but the dark eldar FW stuff is probably on the way out anyway if the rumours about a “summer of flyers” are true, since they look a bit dated next to the new range and there’s supposedly a plastic voidraven kit on the way(though the best anyone can produce to support this ATM is the WD subscription model is cosplaying as… Read more »
I suppose… they still make (vastly superior) Tau Battlesuits as well.

Hope they give forgeworld the job of sculpting the new XV8 when it finally gets an update.
I thought FW were explicitly not allowed to fill in the gaps.
Make all the IG regiments plastic, Heck.. make all the GW and FW ranges plastic.
Would be great to have a apoc game with a sqaudron of destroyer tank hunters or w/e they are called stalking around and shooting tonks to pieces. And titans ofc. In some tourny. Would look neat 🙂
What i would like to see is a plastic kit with a commisar with alternate weaponoptions and shiz. Would be great for me because i hate metal models :I
Some of the eldar stuff FW does looks amazing. I think recent releases are improving upon the old, a bit like GW, which is very cool.
Non-open topped and troops… nearly makes taking a squadron worth it. I like the canopy.
i would say everyone would be more likely to buy forgeworld if it could be used.
Why does Forgeworld seem to have better support for the non space marine forces?
because the market for the marines is covered by GW.
Besides as Marines get something new every few weeks, the others are starved for things and thus are more willing to spend the money FW charges.
looks like the gw one to me with some “minor” changes
There are two vents and a vane on the back that’s about the only difference I can see. For all the palava of messing about with resin, it would probably be better to spend the £6.50 you’d save on the WW kit on green stuff and plasticard. Actually, the weapon hard-points look a bit nicer.
But, really? Resin kit or save a fiver and build in plastic?
I’d by more of the forgeworld stuff if one of three things would happen. 1, the price came down. 2, They made forgeworld stuff easier to get, the price is high enough without shipping it overseas. 3, They stopped casting it resin and converted it to plastics and added it to the regular GW lines.
I love the stuff they have on forgeworld, but if I could get it from the Warstore or the local hobby shop without needing it special ordered it would be great.
nevwyn if they changed the molds to plastic you would losse lots of detail but i do agree with the price thing totaly
I don’t doubt it, but you have to admit for things like dread/titan parts and the marine accessory sets they would sell loads more if they did as everyone would be personalizing their armies without worrying about if they have the skill to convert an item.
Forge World almost have to stick to resin really, not just because GW say so, but because they’re running on much smaller margins than GW, and plastic stuff costs a fair bit more than resin to set up, last I looked into it it was about £50 to set up a vulcanised rubber mold for resin casting and something closer to £5000 to set up the steel ones you need to cast plastic.
