Forge World Unveil the Mechanicum’s Elite Soldiers

Back when I first started Warhammer 40k I wanted to make a Mechanicum army. Now Forge World are bringing this dream closer to fruition with their latest troop minis being the elite Thallax of the Tech-Priests of Mars.
The Thallax are the cybernetic shock troops of the Mechanicum. Having undergone major surgery, all that is left of the human they once were is their major organs, nervous system and cerebrum, with their skeletons and musculature completely replaced by cybernetic components derived from power armour tech. The result is a cold, mechanical killer that is still capable of a degree of independent thought.
These are some of my favourite troop minis from Forge World to date. They have a unique look to them, which manages to convey the general style of Imperial technology, yet also keeps the semi-individual nature of the Mechanicum apparent. I hope that this means we might see some Skitarii in the future.

These would look awesome in that new Warmachine faction.
You know, I was thinking the same thing when I saw those pictures. That or an unusual looking war jack.
It looks like a good model, but it doesn’t look Mechanicus. To me it almost looks like a primitive Eldar Wrathguard. Maybe if they changed the head from a flat visor to something resembling a mechanical skull with a vox caster for a mouth, added a few mechadendrites, and added some more Mechanicus iconography then it would look right.
nice models something other than slightly different marine armour ,
if you go by the fluff these were probably designed pre empire
before everything remotely imperial had to have skulls on it
itd look a bit wrong that way ,since the skull motif became common after the death of the emperor.
personally i think primitive eldar technology would be best ,gives the image the mechanicum trying to copy eldar ideas.
Everything looks good minus the weapon. The chain blades look big for me. I could just snip it off if I wanted.
Can’t say they really scream “ad mech” to me but that being said they are still very nice miniatures.
£10 each nice I’m not totally sure about (such is always a problem with forgeworld) but I am tempted because there’s a lot of potential for these guys in numerous different games.
To me those things don’t really scream Mechanicus but sculpts are still rather nice.
Looks to me like the Mechanicus trying to rip-off Necron bodies, which I think is good given their interactions in the fluff, and the similar concept.
I’m looking forward to getting some of these. They will make a nice change from my usual chaos marines.
