Forge World Scream Onto The Battlefield In Fire Raptors
September 27, 2013 by brennon
In another Games Day 2013 preview we have a rather awesome looking vehicle for the Imperium by Forge World. This time it's a rather massive vehicle named the Fire Raptor.
If you would like more details...
"The Fire Raptor is a specialised variant of the Storm Eagle known to have its origins in the Imperium’s dim and distant past. The vehicle is configured to maximise ammunition stowage in order to feed the voracious appetite of its numerous weapons and this is achieved by sacrificing the Storm Eagle’s transport capacity."
It's got some impressive armaments and even if you don't use it as a Fire Raptor it would be an ace alternative (albeit an expensive one) to the regular Storm Eagle used by the Imperium.
Now that is certainly another beast of a release from the folks at Forge World for Games Day. We'll be there so if you are too come over and say hello!
What do you think?

That is F***G stunning.
That may just have been the model to tip me into Forgeworld!
@warzan
Do it! Come join the resin side!:)
Whilst the Storm Eagle is prize a-hole of a kit to build (lots of hair dryer heating was required to try and get mine into a proper shape – and from vids online I wasn’t the only one) I’m doing my best to restrain myself form getting one of these for one of my heresy armies
You might like one of these for FoW Vietnam Warren!

I love watching these bad boys fire on targets. It wouldn’t suprise me to see something like this coming out for the next Imperial Guard book.
Hate to be on the receiving end!
I see it as more of an AC-10 Warthog myself, just with twice the cannon! :O
Yeah but they all have miniguns in the nose
The lateral fire power is what made me think of Spookies/Puff the Magic Dragon etc
I’m with you on that one. I hate the Thunder Chicken but this is fecking awesome.
Have to agree, that is what I envision a storm raven to look like.
In fact. that is probably what I would use them for, as proxies in normal 40K.
Also, I know it is not as technically proficient as the GW studio guys, but I think the more realistic style of painting that forgeworld do suits the whole 40K ethos so much better than the GW promotional shots.
Ah, the Imperial aesthetic.
1. Take brick
2. Add guns
3. Profit
Nice paintjob, detailed model, p*ss poor aeronautical engineering, sub-optimal fields of fire… the list goes on and on.
looks like an outstanding model, however those front guns just don’t seem to fit. don’t know what it is but i simply don’t like them on the front like that.
All those Forgeworld models are fantastic i just think they are not made for gaming, anything bigger than a Land Raider isn’t made for a game in 28mm….
Mmmmm….buy a titan or get a couple,of these…. Damn FWs awesomeness!
Never really been a big Space Marine fan but that is a sweet looking ship.
Gorgeous model, I’ve heard that the predecessor to this mode (based off of the same design) is an absolute pig to put together.
Love it! I might actually take the plunge on this one. I do wish there was a picture from behind. I have visions of a stinger in the rear like a B-17 or B-29 but I assume there is just the normal loading door back there.
Ok so who do I give my money to?
I don’t have much but you may take it all.
I would like to see Forge World do a version of this as a transporter like the Thunderhawk trasporter but for one Rhino.
That would be sweet!
I would have to agree that’s a very nice model, and yeah those cannons are a tad too large but overall it looks really good.
and chibi, the A 10b has the largest gatling gun ever made fella, in fact the plane was made to fit the gun dude and can take out ANY armoured ground target it choses, the things a beast!!, you gotta love the yanks man, boys with toys!! and the cash to make em, the mini guns you talk of they use on choppers and light vehicles, although a lot smaller they also pack a punch, something like 50 rounds a second!.
it would be great if 40k followed suit and made SM assault cannons fire 10 rounds a turn!.
I was talking about Vietnam though Jay
The Warthog probably wasn’t even a twinkle in the designer’s eye. 😉
The A-10 is a different beat for a different job to the gunships.
Still have a 1/72 A-10 to finish for my daughter.
H: I want an aeroplane that carries lots of bombs and rockets
Me: A Warthog would be the one (shows pics on the internet)
H: Does it blow up tanks?
Me: Yup
H: Cooooool!
lol
ha ha, ok fella.
