Forge World Release Astral Claws Master of the Forge
September 5, 2011 by dracs
Forge World have a new character for the Astral Claws chapter. Meet Armenneus Valthex, Astral Claws' Master of the Forge.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm not particularly sold on this model. The back pack is impressive, but i think the sheer size of it is somewhat unnecessary, and the model itself looks rather static.
What's your verdict on this latest Forge World offering? Do you think you might be tempted to include him in your army?

Pretty cluttered your right…not the greatest of models out there from the FW guys.
I’m just that there’s motf conversion-beamer and that takes me to the model he had to “static” cos of the beamer.
Also what of the SPACE MARINE BOARDING ASSAULT UPGRADE SET why is it not here
I agree, this model felt below par for FW rather great range.
Its OK, I’ll just cut off the laser beam cannon thing and add it to his groin and that ugly static pose will become pimpin 😛
Kinda defines why GW stuff doesnt appeal to me – looks overly cluttered/busy and the details look too sharp for my taste. I tend to prefer more simple miniatures with softer details personally.
IMO the model is a combo of too clutted/ chuncky. the back pack is to big, looks like they ripped of iron man 2 in regards to his whips. , not a fan of the head or techmarine armour which is a shame because i’m a fan of the GW techmarine
plain ugly to me. It´s not in a dynamic pose, to much mini for a small base… looks like it was put together without too much thinking,
I go back to my last comment he has a conversion-beamer A LONG RANGE WEAPON he will not go with the lads and hit people with it, also if FW wanted to make a dynamic model (which I agree they should have) they would put him on a moving bike, so all techmarines with conversion-beamers not on a moving bike will always be not alert looking
I like it.
I like it, but it’s not quite what I had hoped for. If I was to get that model, the arms and pauldrons would be off in a flash for something different.
The pose doesn’t bother me too much– if I was sporting a gigantic gun on my back I probably wouldn’t be prancing around like Cirque du Soleil.
thank you tector for noticing and saying why he is posed the why he is.
Until I saw it a bit larger — I thought it was a solid chunk. Not convinced… 😐
I really hate this model. the conversion beamer is kind of cool but the conversion beamer comversion from Chapterhouse Studios looks way cooler and is less expensive. heres the link to the chapterhouse version for anyone who is interested in having a look.
