Forge World have got two new vehicles soon to be making an appearance.
For the Dark Eldar, the Tantalus.
For the Space Marines, a brand new metal box. The Land Raider Prometheus.
These two are set to be available at this year's Games Day, so those of you who will be going be sure to keep an eye out.

@Warren Why is the Land Raider Proteus being called a Land Raider Prometheus in this article? The Prometheus is the one with twin linked heavy bolters and command array. Either way, I agree with you on the Mk1 Raider, they’re just so uninspiring and just too crowded to get creative with.

Why are they bringing back a retro design?
Retro designs have been retconned into being pre-heresy/distant past designs. So the MK I Land Raider goes very nicely with the new (old) armour variants they’ve released.
Don’t be surprised to see MK I Rhinos and Predator variants coming out soon either.
It wouldnt be so bad but the thing lacks details. the treads are bare. If they were going to re-release an older design you’d think they’d spruce it up a little.
Because they think £80 is a bargain for a classic design /sarcasm off

I think its because that the MkI is purely resin. Other Land Raiders are hybrid kits… feel free to correct me haha
The Tantalus is very nice, you could use it for all sorts of pulp scifi adventure things.

Just checked my emails and it says the Tantalus is going to be £85.
Deal breaker for me sadly.
For that price id expect it to come with a fat slug alien and a hot babe royal slave girl and so much ham id look forward to being digested for many many years…now in blu ray too
Well, I’ve seen boxed MK I land raiders sell on ebay for £100+ before, so it doesn’t surprise me that forge world have decided to get in on that market.
The demand is definitely there, no harm in catering for it.

And the tantallus could go well with my wych cult.
My first Landraider looked just like that. It was crap back then too. Just looks too flat and chunky. Tantalus looks great. Did spend all week working out how much a dark elder army would set me back……

No, you most definitely are not! I love the old LR. To me, it looks more sci-fi. The current LR looks too much like a modern, “”seen it all over the Middle East” sort of thing. The bare treads, the swivel mounted lascannons… ah, it is a work of art! 🙂

The Tantalus looks pretty sweet, but the Mk1 LR looks pretty much like the old kit. Even has those same unrealistic tracks. Those tracks are perfectly flat so no traction at all and the area were the links are pinned together is on the outside so all the weight of the tank would be resting on the pins.
I think they could have spiced up the LR but really it’s that ultimate retro look that sets it off. I’d better be careful or that is going to grow on me. Is just the older guys with Rogue Trader on the shelf this is going to appeal to ?
I newer liked the original Land Raider design. Forgeworld’s Mk II conversion kit to the current plastic Land Raider is much better when it comes to pre-heresy/heresy -era stuff. Tantalus on the other hand looks superb!
Bah the Tantalus is going to make me break my vow on not buying anything GW again. Might just have to allow myself to buy FW, after all the FW troop mini’s end up costing me what GW mini’s did before the last 2 price hikes and the vehicles are bloody epic.
Not a fan of the Mk 1 LR, even back in 2nd ed I refused to buy one as IMO it’s one of the poxiest things to come out of GW, along with the Mk 1 Rhino.
I can feel my wallet bracing itself against the walls of my pocket.
Tantalus is full of win, but I expect it to be a heavy support and all my HS slots are filled with flyers.

The Mk1 is pretty good, if for instance you have a load of RT era marines and want something to go with them. 🙂 Its supposed to look like a WW1 Mk1 male, which also had practically non-existent tread. A Rhino would be cool too. Something to hang the tank rider figures off of.
its just a rhino with land raider tracks, first off looks cool, but then starts looking odd
