Forge Father Metal Upgrade Kits from Mantic
November 9, 2011 by brennon
In another blog post yesterday, and showing some love for the awesome Forge Fathers Mantic discussed a little about the future of the range and what to expect next from the Dwarfs in Spaaaaaaace...
First off here is an image of the Drakkarim for the Forge Fathers. Rugged, mean looking and with beards intact these guys look the part as always.
And here is a quick look at one of the Drakkarim work in progress models, complete with rocket launcher heavy weapon.
Mantic also went into detail about upcoming metal projects for the Forge Fathers including an upgrade kit for the Steel Warriors which will include new sets of metal legs, BFG and heavy weapon options. The Iron Ancestor is also in the concept stage and will be released in 2012.
The Forge Fathers are going to be my army of choice come Warpath Launch...
But what about you guys, Marauder or Forge father? Maybe holding out for another race?

Not too sure about that blast shield, but the rest looks pretty cool.
My proxy Iron Ancestor is in the studio… I’ll have to put up a picture of it! 😀
At last, some proper sci-fi boots !
No bad, not bad at all. Note to mantic team: please paint them in earthy colours not blue. PLEASE, I’ll be good I promise 😀
The armoured beard is still the best part of any forgefather unit.
I like the missile guy too, some really nice details there, knee pads especially.
Nice! I particallary like the Leader with the awesome helmet! I hope Mantic releases those exact helmets in high quantities so I can have a whole army of them. That would look insane!
Im liking the look of the rocket launcher, quite a realistic looking weapon.
I think that the integral circular tab might be an impediment to the sculpting process in the the future for mantic. The marauder hero looks great but its feet needed to be sculpted within the constraints of the circular tab, and then look at the heavy weaponer on this page. They look a little awkward on both poses (in the leg area). The FF hero looks to have a really wide stance which gives it an air of stability.
