Fantastic New Grymm Walker from Hasslefree
December 3, 2011 by beerogre
Take a look at this beauty from Hasslefree Miniatures... the Grymm Walker!
It comes in two configurations... the closed compartment...
... and the open compartment... which I assume will fit a pilot model of some sort.
I picked up a couple of units of Close Combat Grymm to serve as Scrappers for my Warpath Forge Fathers Army. But the Grymm Walker looks to be on a 50mm lipped base, so it could probably serve as a alternate dreadnought or a Warpath Iron Ancestor. The Walker should be available this month, so I think I'll stat one up as a new Forge Father Combat Walker... just in time to stomp some Corporation Troopers!
Ohhhh that’s nice
Is the walker on their website yet – can’t find it but my search-fu is severely comprimised by early mornings …
@kane … Not yet… but it seems that the walker is scheduled for a December (probably nearer Xmas) release.
It’s screaming Gue’vesa Sentinel to me. Sleeker than an IG model, but still a bipedal walker that doesn’t have such a squat (sorry 😉 I couldn’t resist…) build compared to a dreadnought.
The clean lines would work well with the Warzone Bauhaus plastics in a regular IG army also, and from that style it’s but a short step to DUST and WWW2 games, not to mention you could just use it as, well, a Grymn walker… 🙂
Any word on pricing? That’s the clincher here – if it’s around the same as a Sentinel or cheaper if possible…it’s an absolute winner.
@thc303 … No word on pricing yet… but as the interest increases I’m sure we’ll get more details.
Found it on FoD – http://forum-of-doom.com/index.php?topic=15514.50
You could ork it up, put a grot pilot in and make a looted Ork dread/killer kan – it also has quite a Tau look to my eyes …
That looks amazing. I love that there is option to have cockpit open to those that want to also detail it.
You guys really like this huh? Seems abit boxy to me, like it was put together with tubes and blocks: pre existing generic shapes. The plate on the legs looks good. I think there is a difference between clean and lacking detail. You can have a clean model that has a few pieces of detail that really make it stand out. To me this model lacks that next level of detail. Sort of like a paint job with no highlights or shading. It seems more like a toy than a mini, does that make sense?
yep but tastes differ 🙂
I take it you haven’t read any of the Grymn background then…
It’s supposed to look like this, it’s their build style.
Ok, I went over to the Dust site and those walkers there are excellent, much better than this one. This thing just looks unfinished. The Gatling / mini guns look like a throwback to old 80’s sculpts. Just brass rod around a central rod, total lack of any kind of detail. Check out this video of an airsoft mini-gun and you will see what I mean. And again, there is a difference between being ‘clean’ and being flat. If they were clean, they woud ditch all the haphazardly placed generic boxes on the back of the model and come up… Read more »
You must buy this you have 15 seconds to comply
I came… this is so cool…so very very cool… like a dread and at-at (or is it t-st?) mixed
The two-legged one is the AT-ST. I remember seeing a few pictures in oooold White Dwarfs where people had used them as the basis for 40K scale scout titan conversions… they looked good.
Brilliant looking walker.
The Grymn aren’t quit my personal cup of tea, though they are still very hard to resist, but the closed hull could easily be home to a slightly taller pilot and no doubt even the open compartment would probably still look okay with a less stunty person at the controls.
Definitely picking up a couple of these for AT 43 and Dust.
With lots of quality current and planned mech releases from all quarters it seems a new dawn of Walkers has arrived at last.
That looks rather sweet. I wonder if its posable. The joints look like the ball and cup setup to give you that freedom to pose it.
looks very good, anyone of you know the height of this model?
Oh man, that is superb. I think that might even be a better ED-209 homage than the Space Crusade dreadnoughts were. I like the clean lines myself, it looks more pragmatic and leaves space for detailing (that would be transfers for Captain Crayons here). And since someone already mentioned Squats, it does have that more practical aesthetic to contrast with the baroque machinery of the Imperium. Price and size are factors, but I think I found another excuse to buy from Hasslefree: good times.
