Exclusive Jerboa & Chasseur Concept Sketches!
September 22, 2011 by beerogre
The guys at Dream Pod 9 have sent us these exclusive concepts sketches for two new models for Heavy Gear: Blitz!
The Jerboa and the Chasseur...
Rumour has it these two will feature in the brand new rulebook due out before Xmas. I'm not sure what faction they'll be for, but I was told Colonel Arthur might be very interested in the design.
That means, I'll have to get my reading glasses out and take another look through the fluff to find out what's going on.
Do you know any more about this?
If you do, why not comment below, or start up a thread in the Heavy Gear: Blitz Discussion Group on our website.
Don't forget to pick up your copy of the free Gear Up E-Zine, it's got some great bits of background, painted models and terrain tips.
The Jerboa looks like one that I have. It turns into a zippy little bike. I think its one of the most popular gears even thou its an old design, from the fluff I read. So this might be like a new mk 2 or 3 from the looks of it.
I always enjoy Heavy Gear’s ‘Not Zeon’ designs. Mono-Eye love FTW.
Both of those Gears will be featured in the upcoming book, Perfect Storm: NuCoal Field Guide.
I honestly do not like Jerboa the design tries to be two things at the same time and fails at least in the mech form (gear form?) on the other hand Chasseur is brilliant.
They are both really nice looking models. The Jerboa is a Northern Ferret Gear that has been feed crack and had a rocket engine strapped to it! Crazy fast! But if you can hit it with anything it’s gonna go away in a ball of flame. The Chasseur is a standard trooper Gear with jump jets. Allowing it to move in hover mode. Both of these are going to belong to the new faction NuCoal. It’s also possible some existing armies like Peace River and the Humanist Alliance will be able to field them in limited numbers. This is all… Read more »
The Chasseur being the basic NuCoal Gear fits with what I know of fluff naming conventions then – Hunter, Jaeger and Chasseur mean the same thing and the Jaeger is the Southern rip-off of the Hunter…have the NuCoal stolen the Hunter schematics as well?
Well the Hunter/Jager design is 100+ years old in the fluff. It’s been upgraded any number of times over the years. But I would say its safe to assume it’s a take on the basic trooper gear meshed with tech reverse engineered from CEF (Colonial Earth Forces) technology. Mainly the hover systems and such. Thus you’ve got a gear that can walk or hover like a hovertank.
Jerboa looks rather weird but Chasseur is more basic design.
Also the UMF is on the list of people that field NuCoal Allies
I’m really happy that this site has brought Heavy Gear to the site. A+ to you guys at Beast of War!
As a big Heavy Gear fan, this makes me very, very happy.
