Enter The Warzone Of The Mutant Chronicles With Prodos
February 14, 2013 by brennon
This year seems to be all about reinvention and this isn't just true of a number of board games. Mutant Chronicles Warzone Resurrection is one of those tabletop games coming back from the ether for another deadly battle...
Above are some of the 3D renders for the game, previewed over on the games Facebook Page. Mutant Chronicles has been everything from a tabletop game, to a role-playing system and it even became a movie in 2008!
All the miniatures are looking like they could be pretty fantastic and if they are able to twin that with a good rules system then we could be in for a real treat here. The 28mm new version of the game is set to launch tomorrow, 15th February 2013 so watch this space.
What do you think of the return of Mutant Chronicles?
While the original sculpts haven’t aged well, the first edition of the game is said to have been a lot of fun and according to some “veterans” of the hobby gave GW a run for its money back in the day.
I like how Prodos seem to be doing a more modern interpretation of the original “rock-and-roll” aesthetics.
Don’t really get the cyber-skellies in space thing, but looks cool enough.
Waits for someone to mention Necrons and GW ripporfs lol
I like the chunky skellybobrobot, don’t think they look anything like necrons though, more Terminator style…..Oh wait…… I see it now 😛 hehe Not to keen on the gats though, would like to see shoulder mounted ones like predator or the Warmachine model: http://torovaquero.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/war-machine-2-full.jpg
I was a huge fan of the original Mutant Chronicles RPG and the Doomtrooper CCG that was out around the same time, so I have a lot of love for the setting (Space Britains ruined the galaxy!) That said, the original miniatures for the wargame were both chunky and simplistic (and they all competed for the “Who has the biggest shoulderpads” award, which was won of course by the Imperials) so it wasn’t until they released a new edition with the plastic Bauhaus and Imperial troops that things got a little better. Unfortunately once the MMORPG got canned the whole… Read more »
I dont know how true to the game the movie was, but it was interesting enough. Only issue I have, and its just a wee one, is the teaser vid is on par with the ones from GW…..
Have to agree matey. Just watched the video and still none the wiser 😛
It was definitely.. an interpretation. Earth is ruined, mega corporations unite to fund the exodus into space and the under the banner of said mega corps, the other planets in our solar system are terraformed. Apart from the bad smell coming from Earth, all is good except that the pesky Brits were late to the party and by the time they got into space all the good planets were taken. The asteroid belt wasn’t much of a consolation prize so we did what we do best – we started laying claim to other people’s planets! Pretty soon though, the Imperial… Read more »
So the mega-corp factions in this game are: Bauhaus (Western Europe), Capitol (US / Canada), Cybertronic (like a merger of Microsoft and Apple), Imperial (UK / Scotland), Mishima (Japan / Asia) You also have the Brotherhood wielding the Art (good magic) looking out for your soul, plus the Doomtroopers who are effectively the Space UN, a team put together (begrudgingly) by the megacorporations because okay, those Space Mutants out there ARE pretty horrible and somebody should totally do something about them. On the other side you have the apostles Demnogonis (Lord of Corruption), Semai (Lord of Spite), Muawihje (Lord of… Read more »
Technically Scotland is still part of the UK
Why the Brits have to be the bad guy is beyond me when everyone else in the developed world, including the USA, have been equally culpable of colonialism.
By the 40s and 50s the Empire was already in decline.
In this fictional universe if Britain were so good at colonisation then they would have been first in and bagsied the hot spots.
Just my tuppence worth and appreciate it is only a game. 😉
And thanks for the background, it is appreciated
Yeah I agree with you Chibi me old china. However, I think you have overlooked the huge amount of Immigrants that we had to be organised and rehouse prior to departure. Then they wanted help with removals and a disturbance allowance for their inconvenience, a new hover car/minibus where appropriate and of course we had to readjust our space food to accommodate their special dietary requirements and of course, no spaceship would be without 384875 different types of places of worship. Then if that wasn’t enough, we had to wait to import cheap labour, which took a fair while due… Read more »
To me Warzone brings memories as it was first miniwargame that I ever played and back in day I was rather invested to its universe as well. Thats why I am thrilled for chance that Warzone might return.
Awesome stuff .. Being from sweden i have followed the chronicles from its original rpg days, known back in the day as Mutant : Rymd ( mutant : space ). Warzone that came later had a super cool rule system with action points and lots of stuff for your soldiers to do (way better than 40k ever was). The minis though never started to look really good untill the games end-days. Supporting this title for sure! Like the way they seem to have kept some of the iconic stuff in the design, but in a new modern package. Cant wait… Read more »
think you can still get a bag of 80 warzone plastics from prince august for about £20 if anyone wants to get a head start
This news came out of nowhere, but I’m so glad Mutant Chronicles is back! Warzone was the first tabletop game I ever played. It brings back so many memories. Hoping a proper revamp will bring it back from the dark void it’s been hanging out lately.
and its live

..and backed! I hope the KS raises enough money to put the Venusian Rangers into production. I always loved the fact that they fought in the jungles of Venus but were awesome enough to leave their armour factory white instead of painting a camo pattern on it like the Bauhaus Blitzers. The best don’t need to hide!
Warzone is mi favourite sci-fi game. I have big armies of Bauhaus and Imperial, so I hope the kickstarter could fund th Imperial army, not only the first four and Capitol.
By this moment, I´m going to back for Bauhaus and Legion, and maybe one friend will back for Brotherhood and Cybertronic.
Call me uneducated, what is this game? I don’t recall it but many of you speak as if it was out before.
Yup, first it was a roleplaying game (Mutant Chronicles) and CCG (Doomtrooper). Then it was a set of wargaming rules (Warzone), eventually being released as a boxed product with two armies inside ala Warhammer 40k. This was back in the late 90s as I recall.
However, although a lot of the former players remember it fondly, the Mutant Chronicles / Warzone line faded into obscurity despite Fantasy Flight Games attempting a relaunch of sorts with a CMG. So this is probably the first time many people will have heard about Warzone in ten years!
despite fantasy flight taking a huge dump on the franchise? 😛 I can understand 100% why Warzone didnt take off after that little incident
