Is the Eldar Bladestorm rule worth using
October 5, 2010 by lloyd
Today Darrell talk’s about the Eldar Bladestorm special rule allowing you to fire a 3rd shot when you need it, which is good for cutting down some pesky green skins before the get to close.

Is it just me or are they guardians not dire avengers or is that just being pedantic
yes and yes 🙂
Likely there are none painted up for the BoW eldar
Happens quite often that the models represent something else. 😉
One thing to note though, the orks would have made their Ld test as their rule makes their Ld = their number of models. 😉 Except when they become 12+ they become fearless.
Not to be THAT guy, but it is 11+ models. :o)
Can’t the orks use their squad numbers as their Ld value? So their Ld would have been 10 and you would have passed the test.
Bladestorm on its own is good
Bladestorm a doomed unit is better
Bladestorm combined with guide and doom is awesome.
I’ve cleared so many objectives with the last combo,
indeed it is awesome thats why i typically run my avengers w/ a farseer
The question being, do you run the farseer with a council in FRONT of the DA (so both units have a 4+ save) or BEHIND them (to protect the seer from incoming fire?).
Derp. You’d of course want to move the DA forward before firing to avoid granting the enemy a cover save.
aye being on the sharp end of that aint nice
Heh, Karl loves Meganobs. How do they not crack up?!
Didn’t orks use their numbers for leadership testing as in “mob rules”?
Mob rule gives you fearless if the number of boys is 11 or more. If they’re under 11 you can replace you Ld with the number of orks in te unit (10 in this case). So the boys did pass the test. Your Eldar would be toast after the ork charge 😉
In this case i would put a wound on the nob just to get more attacks with the one boy, and i also always give my nobs eavy armour so i have saves against most infantry shooting.
I put dire avengers in wave serpents. Jump out and shoot one turn. next turn jump back in the wave serpent ’cause they can’t shoot anyways. Doom and guide definitely do help though.
Well he is not the foxy assistant I’ve been thinking of but he will have to do for now
Against orks and such, dire avengers are just great. More so with doom and guide.
Also they can actually do quite good in CC against the orks as thera are usualy not that many orks left after the bladestorm, they strike first (the doom is still in effect) and with defend and shimmershield on the exarch the attacks back are not that bad.
I absolutely love using Bladestorm with Guide and Doom. Granted if you miss the timing you’re screwed, as Avengers aren’t particularly great in CC, but when it works the combo is devastating.
