Dystopian Wars: Covenant of Antarctica Announced
July 19, 2011 by brennon
The superbly successful steampunk wargame of land, sea, and air from Spartan Games has announced its newest fleet to be unleashed on the high seas of Dystopian Wars.
The new fleet looks utterly fantastic, with some great new models to add to the already amazing range. The Covenant have a truly unique design, which sets them apart from the other fleets in the game.
A new Walker battle group for this interesting new super-technological fleet consists of...
- 1 x Archimedes Class Heavy Walker
- 3 x Socrates Class Bombard
- 6 x Atticus Class Medium Walkers
- 10 x Xenophon Class Small Walker Tokens
- NEW 40 Page, Full Colour A5 Booklet with Background, Special Rules and Statistics
- 4 x A5 Token and Template Sheets
- Laminated Statistic Cards
... and the Naval version...
- 1 x Aristotle Class Battleship
- 3 x Plato Class Cruiser
- 9 x Diogenes Class Frigate
- 2 x Ptolomy Class Bomber
- 10 x Small Flyer Tokens
- NEW 40 Page, Full Colour A5 Booklet with Background, Special Rules and Statistics
- 4 x A5 Token and Template Sheets
- Laminated Statistic Cards
These new sets will become available in early August and they are even invading GenCon between August 4th and the 7th, so if your lucky enough to be in attendance, you can pick up these awesome new models there!
What do you guys think?
Do you enjoy Dystopian Wars and these new models?
the conceptart is rubbish but the models look quite interesting ^^.
these models look like theyre from supreme commander the game
first fleet ive seen i like for this game….apart friom the planes and carrier which really dont work for me (willy fighters?)
looking forward to Uncharted sea relaunch, new renders look good and game is pretty fun
garrrrhhh!!! finger fail + no edit!
Much more a fan of the naval units than the air/land ones – and certainly impressed with Uncharted Seas at the moment. And thanks @lloyd!
I actually visited Spartan Games down in shepton Mallet last week and saw these bad boys first hand and I personally think they look really, really cool. I also saw some of the resculpted Uncharted Seas stuff, which again all looks very impressive. Great to see Spartan doing so well and moving to new premises because they offer three great gaming syatems and gaming at a reasonable price.
By the way guys I would just like to say publicly, thanks to Brennon for coming on board as a regular writer for the site!
Hmmmm Spartan games
not same game…think sci fi and spaceships.

Haven’t actually tried Firestorm Armada yet – but the ships are pretty awesome.
This game is one of the most afordable for what you get games on the market. I got the big blimp that is a big chunk of resin, it was less than $30 canadian. It makes other games resin prices seem like highway robbery.
Yep, Spartan Games follow the code of ”you pay for what you get”. Its an awesome philosophy.
I’m not really a fan of Dystopian Wars theme wise, especially this latest faction. It’s way too over the top for my tastes. The models are really well done though, and the prices seem reasonable.
Im in the same boat (groan), id rather go with uncharted seas or firestorm armarda
Welcome aboard Brennon.
I really like these – I dont play the game. (And definately not letting myself get sucked into another game system) but they do look very cool.
I love Dystopian wars, didnt think id get another fleet after prussians but the Covenant are too appealing! I like their other games too – and I’m excited for their 6mm scale Firestorm Invasion ground-combat game too.Spartan are quickly becoming the replacement company for GW to me – they really excite me 🙂 It’s good to finally see their stuff getting some attention here!
This new faction looks brilliant, and I’ll just add it along to the others I own already. Can’t wait for the Ottomans…
As for Spartan’s other games systems… the neat thing about DW is the ability to play land/sea/air all at once, with a single (horribly convoluted ruleset). For my space fix, it’s all about BFG, and Man O’War does a rather spectacular job with fantasy naval combat.
Spartan: Get an EDITOR! j/k;n/r
It was Dystopian Wars that really encouraged me to get into Spartan Games miniatures…. I love the steampunk background a lot, and I really like a lot of the factions. I at first thought I’d get the Covenant, and whilst I think the models are very cool, I wouldn’t say I was a fan enough to buy them. They’re a bit too technologically advanced for my tastes (whilst that does fit in with the background, it just doesn’t fit what I want from a Dystopian fleet). Hence why I’m getting a Federated States fleet. Can’t wait for the second wave… Read more »
