Dying With a Little Dignity
February 4, 2011 by dracs
Sometimes your guys are just going to die. It happens to everyone eventually. But if you've gotta go, Darrell will make sure you go out in a blaze of glory.
If you think you know any other ways in which to make sure you miniatures don't die in vain, please post a comment.

Strangely I like this. It looks like something I’m going to have to try in my next few games. I’ve never been one to give up and accept that my units about to die, but then I’ve lost more games by being optimistic.
Time for some realism!
Thankyou Darrel. An excellent video.
wow! I must say I’m very impressed. This is a very simple tactic but can be a game changing tactic is used properly as well. Great job Darrel!
Nice tip, and a “fluffy” move for space wolves if I do say so. Darrel may be more fluffy than we give him credit for! “My guys died well!” Just teasing….good video
I’ve never actually thought of that, I’ve often been in similar situations and though “better if I charge” and gone in with bolt pistols(long fangs are a few points less and get screwed out of their pistols, where vanilla marines get to keep them) and a charge which meant that if I died the terminators had the same movement range as if I’d stayed still and let them charge me.
I’ll be remembering this in future…
i would charge the long fangs into them as the terminators would have 1 less attack then if they charged you or just shoot them it pointless just moving then running
Wow! I’m going to have to start using this tactic. Thankd Darrell.
I like it. But how many letters do have to you write home for every game?
Interesting idea, there’s been a few instances where units are gonna get creamed, so I might put this into practise to minimise loss of ground…
Great idea, last couple of tactics vids have been very good ideas and this is more of what we (I at least) want to see, rather than stuff that can be answered by anybody with a rulebook 😛
I would have stood and shot with Long Fangs and grey hunters. But my guardsmen are quite viable for this tactic, when im running infantri platoons. They wont be much more than speed bumps anyway, geting off a first rank fire, second rank fire order would seem to be nice, thats 3 shots per man, so 15 shots, half hit, so say 7 hits, str3 vs t4 (thats a 5+), so 2 wounds on a 2+/4+. you can be lucky, but i wouldent bet on it. Id say bayonettes on, move forward, and get of a shot, just for spite.… Read more »
wow, iv lost quite alot of games becuase i had 2-3 guants and i told my self that they wouldnt do aynthing … what do you know the enemy takes my objective … one thing i dont see happening in this video is thouse termies getting to thous long range sws …if it was thouse teremies agaist something fast like guants it would make more sence … unless im mistaken and all of the guns they had were assult and not heavy
Yip. This is the sort of thing I think about doing during a match, but dont have the mental focus to realise that it would be of benefit. I’d end up convincing myself that the enemy would get just as far either way!
Cheers.
I use this kind of tactic with my tau warriors sometimes to protect the ones further back. Sometimes i charge in and hope some survive my assault phase but this is always a gamble.
Guys I know that nobody wants to die but sometimes to die well is all you can do.
look the enemy in the eye and know as I die you lose time. That in the will be victory for me
