Defiance Games Size Up Their UAMC Hardsuits
November 28, 2013 by brennon
Defiance Games were very successful with their UAMC Hardsuit Kickstarter and they have been showing off some scale images to see if it fits with backers approval.
As you can see above compared to a normal 28mm model it does look realistically huge. You could imagine a marine standing inside that and it working out alright scale wise. If everyone approves then they will begin actually making these!
These things are so incredibly cool and I am fairly sure if I could find a way to have an entire army of them I would. I like their semi-futuristic look and the prospect for epic poses and such is brilliant.
Do you think that you'll be picking up a few of these when they finally get released by Defiance?
Drop some comments below!
The top image doesn’t really do the model justice at all. They need to get Giraldez on it and get a proper showcase paint job for one sorted out.
Its the same prototype figure that they posted at the start of their kickstarter, nothing has been changed on it size wise.
Really cool suit .. not to keen on the infantry mans helmet though. Looks really uncomfortable to wear.
Might Make a cool Centurion, I really don’t like GW Centurion models but with some modifications I think these would be pretty cool. Or I think they would fit in with my Dreamforge Eisenkern Guard Army, I could maybe use them as Counts as Armoured Sentinals.
Color me interested !
Right, im gonna ay the same shit i said on frothers and la. This is the exact same prototype from the start of the kickstarter. it’s on the EXACT same base, with the EXACT same paint scheme and the EXACT same pose. Nothing has been changed! there is so much controversy over this kickstarter and so many people are clearly at risk of loosing their money. The whole thing has been pretty much outed as a fraudulent venture by defiance to cover a backlog of bills before they go out off business. I’m a little disappointed that beasts of war… Read more »
I picked up this story because it was an update explaining that the models were actually going into the next stage of production. I am fully aware of the controversy that has sprung up around these guys and I assumed it would be a bit of reassurance that the models were ‘actually’ going forward. I also notice they were the same model. My hope was, that as you state above nicromanov, that people would feel better about backing this knowing that they were moving this on and folks would be seeing their models – and they wouldn’t be losing their… Read more »
And that my friend is why I laughed at the entire venture from the start. I will never buy a model from them just because of the ethics being them.
I have to wonder about the quality of reporting here if BoW are going to report on this company or their Kickstarter without even a brief mention of the controversial practices and outright fraud perpetuated on the gaming community by them. From taking pre-orders and not delivering, to (self-admitting) purposely sending out warped miniatures to paying customers, to losing order information, to refusing to pay suppliers and employees (employees working for two years without pay), to blaming other companies for their shoddy work, to deceiving customers that the owner was out of the picture to encourage KS participation… This company… Read more »
it looks bloody terrible….shame as I liked the marines…
It’s a huge conspiracy! Nope, not really. That’s just the proposed size for the hardsuit models. We had two sizes we were considering. One was more man-sized as shown in the drawings and the other was larger as shown with the painted 3D prints. During the Kickstarter we realized that everyone wanted them to be the larger size. After the Kickstarter we wanted to double check so we posted some updates to find out if the larger size was indeed the one everyone wanted. It turns out that is true – so that is the size we’ll be producing. We… Read more »
I will also note that n815e – the troll – has been active on BOW for 8 hours. 😉
I wouldn’t instantly dismiss someone as a troll because they disagree with the way your company is run. The length of time someone has been a member of BOW has no bearing on the truth of their claims or the value of their posts.
How did your totally honest, not at all a scam, kickstarter turn out, Tony?
I imagine BOW didn’t want to mention some of defiances previous practices for legal reasons. I wouldn’t go as far as to say Defiance is fraudulent but they have certainly seemed incompetent and manipulative in the past. For example seemingly trying to get out of paying for the shipping containers they were selling, the hardsuits being originally planned for release either this or last june (I cant remember which http://img.4plebs.org/boards/tg/image/1379/56/1379565416036.jpg) and seeming to claim that Tony was no longer taking part in running the company during the kickstarter but him seemingly being straight back on the day to day running… Read more »

Draaaaaaaaaamaaaaaaaaaa *clicks heels*
These will never appear. Defiance Games are the very definition of ‘fail’ (and ‘scam’ and ‘lies’ too come to that).
However, if you’d like a version that is available from a reliable, reputable source designed by the same designer and produced in good quality materials, Antenociti has one.

Buy with confidence.
I’ve bought from Antenociti before. Very high quality, very classy. And for me, fast delivery (which I never expect from miniature companies, but it’s always nice when it happens).
I suppose it is easier to accuse me of being a troll than to address my factual assertions about your practices, Tony.
You don’t do yourself any favors by name-calling and it would be better to spend your time trying to figure out how to not create a bigger fiasco than to try to discredit the truth.
There are nearly 700 KickStarter backers who gave you money for toys, not for your games.
Its standard handwaving and non answers. Its a bit like talking to a politician.
