Defiance Games Add Missiles to their Hardsuits

Check out the Defiance Games Hardsuits with a new weapon option, a rack of Missiles ready to blast away any unfortunate alien that gets in their way.
Certainly a powerful suit, but I would have liked to see arms as well as the missiles mounted on the top. While the legs look chunky enough to stop it falling over, I couldn't help but worry for the pilot tipping over!
A great concept though, but I would find some way to mount the missiles differently.
What do you think to this new hardsuit load-out?
I agree, the lack of arms just doesn’t do it for me.
When compared to the original concept, this just looks ridiculous. The concept art had the missilepod mounted on the suit’s shoulder with arms still in place. I read the piece of fiction they posted along the picture, and it paints a picture that the suits are much larger than it was implied by the original concept art. More like walkers than actual powered suits. I feel Defiance Games took a short cut here as arm swaps on a model are one of the easiest things to do. I would have rather seen a shoulder mount or mounts with swappable parts… Read more »
Been so impressed with Defiance and their output so never thought i’d say this but ………………..swing n’ a miss.
I see an egg carrying two barrels on its shoulders. Also, the suit must have gone through some foot binding in its youth. The feet are just too small.
Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall….
I still just see Maschinen Krieger when I see these. I guess the pilots arms are in the front of the suit.
Which I can see the point of btw.. It’d probably be harder to put a round through the main casing then to blow a flimsy limb off.. Did Defiance Games ever say the original suit had the pilots arms in the suits arms?
I think everyone is taking it out of context if they compare the artwork to this. This version by it’s name and layout is a dedicated weapon platform. The artwork shows a missile rack but they look more like a add on to the main chassis. If that is the case I see nothing wrong with this model.
Over all I like the model and would have no problem fielding one for my UAMC army.
A weapons platform or a powered suit, the thing still needs arms. For the simple reason of getting up if it falls over for whatever reason.
I don’t think that the Defiance Games has made any mould tooling yet, so they can easily retcon the desing.
The general shape is of course awesome, beign FlyingDebris design. But…either the missile-launcher operator had his arms cut off, or the arms are in the suit, not in the mech’s arms. if that IS the case, why does the original redner (rifle-trooper) have arms on mech? the gatling gun should also be on hardpoint then.
According to the fluff posted on the DG’s blog the pilot’s arms are inside the “egg” shell and the suit’s “arms” and “legs” are operated through “micro-bursts of electricity from your muscles”. The pilot don’t actually move his arms or legs. This would imply that the suit is more of a weapons platform or a walker than actual powered suit. So your point about hardpoints is really valid. It’s unclear that are the pilot’s legs inside the suit’s legs and the pilot’s legs move along with the suit. If this is the case, the fluff contradicts itself as it states… Read more »
Yeah, the original art piece it’s based on also had the pilot wear the armor, not drive it. It seems like the ML is just a awful shortcut with fluff added to cover it up.
Just looking at the figure it appears top heavy for the feet. if it attually fired off a volly it would have no stability to stop it falling ar?* over T?t and unable to stand up again
