Stop making me want to buy this game!
You should totally buy this game.
Are the rumours I’ve heard true, is James heading back to GW? They could sorely use his expertise. Deadzone btw is awesome.
He’s leaving to write rules for a company based in Lenton. Draw your own conclusions from that.
Warlord? Please be Warlord! 😉
Actually that sounds a wee bit churlish. The very best of luck James, whereever it is you are next!
Not Warlord, I’m afraid!
love my enforcers but finding the control missions suprisingly hard… interesting force warren but i dont feel safe without my peacekeeper captain!
Looking good! We’ll miss you James demoing games… so sad! Best of luck though!
does it mean that Deadzone is losing its creator? what about future extensions?
That would be Jake Thornton, so, in short, Nope :). Future things will be fine.
We will all miss James muchly though!
Another great video that spins neatly through the elements involved and illustrates yet again, the sheer variety and tactical depth in this remarkable game.
One point: if any is mad enough to have scenery that goes sufficiently high (oh say, 8 cubes), then the crate placement mechanism could involve anoth D8 roll to determine how high up the tower the crate will go – it would be boring if it automatically ended up on the top floor every time.
*Coughs* Ammo crates add 2 dice to blaze away, not one… There’s also nothing stopping the ‘random roll’ items from ending up in the same cube as another one. It’s the player picked ones that can’t share a spot. And the whole ? Special discussion is a bit redundant at the moment. No currently released missions use it (that I’m aware of, anyhow) and there’s a note in the rulebook saying just treat it as a second ‘intel’ counter. A ‘House Rule’ I like doing, is also using the Friend / Foe statements in choosing deployment sides. It’s either the… Read more »
GODS SPEED BRAVE BEAR WIZARD! may the forces of nature guide you and may bears sing you to your rest.
Another awesome Deadzone vid, busy now painting the contents of the boxed set. Then just need to find someone to have a game with.
Can’t wait for mine to arrive…… All the best Mr Hewitt!
Really liking the look of Deadzone. I got a demo at York Vapnartak and liked it.
But I dont want to jump in with the £60 plus box. Do we know if Mantic are planning to release the demo set as a starter, much like they did with Dreadball Kick Off.
Lovin’ these vids! Thank you very much
Bought it! Deadzone is killer awesome!!
Godspeed, James may your rules writing pan out better than your dice rolls against the might Warren 🙂
From the demo game I started to think that Deadzone was a easy and simple game, but with the setup I understood the complexity of this game and it really got my attention. I will watch it closely and probably it will be in my collection.
DZ is brilliant. Need to make sure you update your book esp if you got first print run with some errata though. Sentry guns aren’t statted out in the first run, for example.
I thought the point of the cube terminology was to stress the fact that they are three dimensional and that the next levels are not the same space.
So why don’t they roll for height when there are cubes stacked on top of each other? Are all the objectives always at ground level, at highest level or what?
The way it works is, in the middle ‘bar’ where the players put the items down, the players can put the items on any level they want.
When it comes to the random placement, they’re always put at the top level of a ‘cube’ – Presumably to make more use of the 3d space and have people climbing up places they normally wouldn’t bother trying.
I like the missile launcher on the enforcers – even more after I got a kill on a Stage 1A with the first shoot of the game 🙂
I would also like to splash out for the Captain, so much that i have yet to just run the Sgt. – run them both in 120point games
Excellent videos, more please
is there a difference between the pre-release edition and the now ‘release’ edition. I can see some big difference in price if you compare amazon, mantic, or even wayland.
Love these videos. Please tell me James will be around for the follow-up game described in this one!!!
The more I hear about DZ, the more I want to get a force for it ( Enforcers are my choice if / when I commit ). It looks absolutely brilliant.
And good luck to james in his new job.
Excellent looking game, with a hugely entertaining cinematic approach to game mechanics that doesn’t allow actual physics to get in the way of the carnage over much. I really like what I have seen so far, and I am leaning most toward Enforcers at the moment.
I would also like to wish James good luck in his new job. I look forward to seeing him bring his passion and expertise to the Games Workshop IPs.
Well you guys did it, made me go and order this game! I can’t wait to get some games in!
Just picked my starter set, the extra terrain set and the crates yesterday, I removed the scenery from the sprues in the starter set last night, Wow! what a great value, I am going to love this game. My game week is turning into games nights with all I have going on now.
