Hi BoW ! I’ve received my beautiful box of Deadzone, and it was awasome ! Very good work from Mantic and a perfect work from Jake (Blessed him ! ^_^) I’m a huge fan of DreadBall, and i was really interested by DeadZone. I’m not disappointed Miniatures are really really cool, and al the stuff fit perfectly. A big suprise with the metal miniature of the mercenary. Just excellent ! I’ve taken all the blisters of counters too, and i’ve just received the Marauders miniatures. Good ones too ! So, thanks for this nice video, always a pleasure to see… Read more »
Non non, pas trop de fautes… tout va bien ! 🙂
Mieux que mon francais.
@warzan I could definitely see you on QVC lol
The lovely, lovely honk of fresh wetsuit. If I didn’t already have a copy I’d have bought one right then!
Pretty much what you showed was what was in the KS box, except that the Survivor model was restic, and was posed with the gun arm extended as if shooting. I would have liked the option to get the metal variation of the Survivor as well as the KS version.
He’ll be on the second survey 🙂
Can’t wait for my “I paid for courier shipping” free version in wave 2 🙂
It does not work with the revel plastic glue as it is a hard plastic and won’t bond. I have had mine since November and you need superglue.
Used Humbrol liquid poly on mine and they are well and truly stuck.
I’ve been looking forward to this. What a great set.
???
When’s the second survey??
Us in the Land Down Under seem to miss these tidbits of info!
It will be shortly before the second shipment, in a couple of months’ time – that’s only for Kickstarter backers, mind!
I was on the fence about picking this up. Not anymore another QVC sale.
Goodonyer. Definitely a wise choice.
I backed the Kickstarter. I got 2 HUGE boxes (fnarr-fnarr) inside a GIGANTIC box (fnarr-fnarr-fnarr) full of even more terrain sprues (fortifications, landing pads plus a load of the accessory sprues as it was a great way to get a load of kegs, crates and other greebly bits). And there is MORE to come yet!
I adore the terrain – so many possibilities and Mantic could easily add more variations to make it a limitless system.
I’m not sure I’m interested in the game, but oh my gawk, that terrain! Once thus is available to buy separately, I’m thinking corridors, spaceship interiors etc.
Just don’t expect to be able to easily put it together or take it apart. It’s great once built but the connectors are terribad.
I disagree about the connectors, with some care (and les a little filing inside the holes) I’ve had no issues with any of my Battlezones. I’ve glued a few unto basic larger blocks, but other than that connectors all the way, the whole of my landing pad/fortress/sentry tower complex is done with the connectors and it’s not fallen apart yet! Erastus, one thing I would say though is that you need to use something like a small screwdriver (or bit of sprue) to push the connectors out from behind if you want to remove them, don’t try and prise them… Read more »
I got Deadzone before Xmas – I’m a kickstart supporter – it is awesome!!!
I highly recommend everyone give it a go! Definitely the game of 2014 ;o)
Warren’s new motto (channelling DZ, FOW and Apocalypse Now):
‘I love the smell of neoprene in the morning’
Great video guys! If people were on the fence I think they’ll see all the goodies in the box and jump on now!
Although I love Dreadzone it’s a shame that only about 5 seconds of thought went into designing the way they clip together.
The connectors are utter shite. They break just by looking at them and it takes forever to actually build something.
And having everything just slung in a box ( as has become the usual Mantic way ) means half the stuff comes ripped, broken and dented.
I should point out though… These are the only 2 things wrong with it. Other than these it’s pretty bloody good.
Give @lagoon83 a pm and see if you can get some more connectors.
Hehe. To be honest I ordered another 6 sprues worth from the Mantic site last week. Still waiting for them to turn up though. Mantic just don’t give you enough of them with each Battle zone. ( Especially given the breakage rate. )
I’ve no issues with the connectors, aside from not getting enough of them. Pressure from a flat surface like a screwdriver or pair of scissors gets them in, poking them with something pointy gets them out. Haven’t needed to glue anything together.
We’re going to be packing the retail products differently based on feedback about the number of connector sprues, so never let it be said we don’t learn stuff 🙂 Also… five minutes?? I’ll have you know we agonised over those connector sprues! We even sent them straight back to the drawing board after months of work because they weren’t working well enough. Once you get the hang of these ones, judging by the majority of feedback, they work fine. Still, we will admit they take a bit of getting used to. We’re gonna be doing a few Deadzone videos on… Read more »
*five SECONDS, rather! 😛
I’ve been very slowly working through my Deadzone things I picked up at the Open Day. – Pretty much everything! While I still have something daft like 30 more rebs to assemble, plus another Plague big guys bag, I’ve started my painting now, despite a 2 week interruption for that whole ‘Christmas’ thing. One thing that was missed from the unboxing though was that it’s worth mentioning that for the Enforcers, you pretty much get 2 Strike Teams (the standard game size) worth of guys in there for them. – And not miles less for the plague. Imagine a 40k… Read more »
Lucky me got both Deadzone and Loka for Christmas. Loka essentially a board game with some basic fighting mechanic but playable instantly (since based on chess) except our 7 yr old who didn’t know chess struggled…..understandably. Deadzone very long set up. Cleaning the restic was relatively hard (compared to the poly plastic) and tried several different glues before anything stuck. Supeglue in the end but only after washing models in soap and holding for a few minutes (superglue gel may be better). Would have been nice to have a one page insert in box to give advice on putting models… Read more »
I used Gorilla Glue superglue and Army Painter activator and everything went together quickly and firmly. Didn’t need to wash the minis and they stuck together so quickly that when an arm on one of the Rebs went in slightly the wrong place, I couldn’t budge it when I tried to get it out, and that was after just a few seconds. I’ve played two games so far, both took around an hour and a half. I’d definitely recommend a thorough reading of the rules to anyone before they have their first game. I was expecting a more streamlined system… Read more »
I got this for Christmas, havent had much time to get to grips with it yet, especially the terrain, but as a product is probably the most impressive bit of gaming kit I’ve bought in the last 5 years.
A really great box of stuff, well designed, the bits are high quality, cannot fault it.
It also cost £56 from my local shop. Utter bargain.
I grabbed this though kickstarter getting a box so big in the post I have threatened to stick the mrs in it and post her off when she grumbling at me. I am not even close to having worked though everything yet but the quality is very high both in model and the scenery. Though regarding the connectors I do feel Mantic would have saved themselves some ear bashing if they clearly stated you need to push them out from the reverse with something thin. (A mechanical pencil is my preference here.)
Pretty much the same for me as others have said. Got mine for Christmas, loads of content, but bloody hell, those connectors! Pish. Had to glue my terrain on the second attempt. Great concept, poorly executed. The minis are great, but some of the joins took me ages to get just right, and there a lots of seams to shave off. The rule book looks great, but feels far too much of a mish mash. It could do with being re-edited to give a more cohesive and chronological, in game terms, order. I really want to love Deadzone, and after… Read more »
Yeah book is nice but was not easy to follow the first time. Pretty sure everything was there but sometimes hard to find where the right rule or stat was when in game. A one page summary sheet perhaps with basic mechanics and listed actions and a few tables would be very useful. Also, whilst I’m here. What is the point of a sprint? Its a long action move 2 squares but you have to stick to one level. But then move is a short action so you can move twice without any restrictions on level or direction. Am I… Read more »
You can only take each skill once per activation (outside of ones granted through cards or free actions). That means you can’t Move twice and must Sprint if you want to go two cubes.
Page 22 – “Important! A model may only perform each type of action once in a Turn. Free actions do not count towards this limit.” So, you’re not allowed to do the ‘Move Action’ twice. But what you could do is: “Shoot Short Action”, “Move Short Action”, then play a “Move Battle Card” to let you go a total of 2 spaces. Or “Sprint Long Action” then play a “Move Battle Card” to let you go a total of 3 spaces. Or… Even… If you have the “Fast” or “Agile” Special rule (eg, most Plague, or the Rebs Yindij). “Move… Read more »
Here’s a link to the demo scenario that Mantic put together. It’s a good place to start before diving into the full game.

I have a PDF reference sheet of all the skills, but can’t seem to upload PDF’s onto the website.
as a lot of people here, i’m a KS pledger !
and I’m really pleased with my deadzone box !
it’s definitively a good game : easy to set up, the mechanics made the game working smoothly.
i was running through some issues between rules but, nothing to difficult to overcome.
Thanks you Mantic for this game, and thank you BoW for this video 🙂
There’s a serious amount of gear under the lid as denoted by this 1 hour unboxing video! Quantity and quality are rare bedfellows these days but then consider how inexpensive this game is then you start to realise that you have something a bit special. As a newbie to wargaming I’d love to see some demo/tutorial videos for Deadzone. As scenery is something I’m reasonably proficient at the clip issue doesn’t bother me. I’ll be kit bashing most of it and so I’m happy to use glue. Great video from BoW, as usual. These guys are a massive support to… Read more »
I am interested in having a go at this game. The amount of plastic you get is great. I have a Games and Gears table from kick starter hopefully coming in May and that terrain would be great in most of the games I play.
I hope to also see some demo games from the BoW team soon!
