The Deadzone Kickstarter Goes Live!
April 26, 2013 by brennon
The Deadzone Kickstarter from Mantic Games has gone live and without much ado here is a bunch of the awesome imagery that you can expect to be picking up in miniature form soon enough!
"Players control one of four unique factions, battling it out over scarce resources by combining deadly actions to lethal effect. The sci-fi backdrop of Deadzone is brought to life using the new modular Mantic Scenery Range adding a vertical dimension to your games and incredible customisation to your battlefield. No game need ever look the same!"
Yes you did read four different factions...
Above you can see the teams for the Enforcers, Plague, Rebs (Yes the Rebs look fantastic!) and the Marauders each fighting for control in this already epic looking game that has got to $24,000+ already!
As well as the models Mantic also have loads of awesome terrain on offer that is plastic and can be used in a variety of different ways to prepare the board you want to play on.
There will of course be plenty more to come on Deadzone but for now start pledging! Watch the video on the Kickstarter page too for a lowdown of what Deadzone is all about.
It's looking great!

Since writing it’s already gone past $30k!

i was hitting f5 like a madman 5 mins before, got in as fast as I could, didnt bother watching the vid and just went straight to the ‘sweet spot’ pledge level of $140. I ended up still being beaten by about 30 people. 20 mins in and 35k funded, this could be interesting
I didn’t notice how many but I certainly wasn’t the first at $140 at a little before the countdown had run out.
I’ve still not watched the vid. Thanks for the reminder 🙂
funded after 34 minutes, stretch goals ahoy!
The project is now funded.
I am very disappointed there is no “terrain sprue only” pledge level. Maybe they can add that as an option to take instead of a starter.
I expect they’ll be in the Mantic store after the Kickstarters have gone out. I imagine they’ll sell well both with and without the game.
I was under the impression that Mantic intended on a terrain only pledge level. Maybe it’ll be an add-on instead.
They could still introduce one. I know Myth jiggered with theirs – as it were – quite a bit.
They might be waiting until all the terrain sprues are funded so as to make a terrain only pledge worthwhile.
Yeah, I’d be game for a terrain pledge I don’t need any additional minis right now. At the same time I can understand Mantic going for a focus on the new game rather than just a few of the components.
Well planed from mantic, I love how well researched this looks.
On models, Enforcers seem to be redesigned quite much on the areas they were criticized.
My one criticism is that cloak on the captain. For me it’s a bit too much like the thing they get accused of aping.
Oh I will agree I really do not like that model and hope for a redesign.
hehe, i dont c the strecht goals yet, the better catch up, the are running behind. at 62 K atm
If I were Mantic I’d be well on the way to drinking the nearest pub dry right now.
Got myself down for: EARLY BIRD! Strike Team – One 😀
The end of this year will have me in hospital at this rate!! hehe
Mick
If they release a Forge Fathers set for it I will be all over it. But as for now I think I’ll hold off due to all the other kickstarters I have pledges on.
Can’t imagine they wouldn’t have a ForgeFather team planned, just saving it for a stretch goal later. You’d be as we’ll jumping in now to push up the total and reveal more stretch goals. It runs over next 2 paydays so plenty time to save or you can reduce your pledge if they don’t turn up. You know you want to….. 😉
Not so much interested in the game, even though it looks lovely… Its that terrain I’m after, hopefully seperate pledge/add on soon! Terrain looks like it would fit Infinity without a problem
not even 2 and a half hours in and its 200% funded
Another early bird. Looks great, the corporation sniper is brilliant.
Mantic are realy becomming a contender, how happy am I ! There giving us what we want every time at prices that cannot be beat. Whats the bet GW release there version of space Dwarfs verry soon? And yes I remember Squats. Plus, for me, the Veermyn are a winner for SciFi ratmen and the Zzor are something Ill be keeping a close eye out for. 40K is a great universe, dont get me wrong, but Mantic are stealing the show hands down at the moment and long may it last. This has just made my day, congratulations Mantic on… Read more »
Is everything going to KS first? I like that big pink beast the most, I wish I could just get that on its own.
It has been suggested that the models for Deadzone will become new units in Warpath, so I guess you will be able to. Hopefully all the models will become add-ons later on. Or you will have to wait till after the KS has shipped and availabubble in stores. Either way, I think you will get what you want. 🙂
Look at all that money not spent on GW … steamrolled
50 hours into the kickstarter, 225k and got the same amount of backers that kings of war had by the end. do we think this will hit the million mark?
I really hope so, but the stretch goals seem to be lagging and not put up in a long line like some others have done. I have a strike team, so hoping they get the motivating tools out to help people off the fence. Also the add-ons are very few atm which people are crying out for.
One of my FAV games ever was Necromunda, anyone have any idea how game play will be? Would LOVE to see a replacement for a Necromunda style game. (eye’s closed and fingers crossed)…..oh please….oh please….oh please…….
Jake Thornton drops a few hints in the (I think 3rd) BoW Salute vid. It’s board game squares for movement, Dreadball-style dice-rolling (3 dice vs a stat, modifiers increase or decrease the number of dice, bonuses for rolling sixes, bonuses for getting double the number of successes). According to JT it’s aimed at quick play and minimal arguments – but as the designer he would say that 🙂 There’ll be an alpha rules set released to backers so you could back at one of the lower pledge levels, get a look at the rules and then pull out or increase… Read more »
I’m not a Mantic Fan so ill be skipping this one. Interesting though how the other huge KS that’s going on right now isn’t getting the same love as Dropzone. I guess they aren’t BoW sponsors.
are you high?
sorry I should have added something

Beasts of War have covered ‘the other huge kickstarter’, more than deadzone (although you said dropzone for a minute I thought you meant dropzone commander)
Which is the other huge one they’re not covering?
Like the Enforcers troops. the big guy is a bit meh
the female Reb looks good also
I’ve considered buying some Enforcer models a few times, maybe this will be the nudge I needed to do so.
