A Deadly & Legendary Duel From The Horus Heresy!
February 23, 2013 by brennon
If you're a big fan of the Horus Heresy and the miniatures that Forge World are pumping out right now then you will be pleased to know that a deadly duel is going to erupt between Abaddon and Loken in a stylish new set...
These two titans of the Warhammer 40,000 background are facing off across a rubble strewn battlefield. Each comes on a separate base but can be mounted on this huge display board if you wished to keep it safe from battlefield bumps and scratches!
Not being a huge fan of the background this doesn't evoke a massive reaction from me but I can see it being a nice set to pick up for lovers of the Horus Heresy. When they make a Sigmar versus the Orc Warlord from Black Fire Pass, get back to me Forge World.
Despite my attitude towards this kit what are your thoughts?
Let me know below.

The miniatures are o.k. I guess but £55 for a model that is mostly base is asking a bit much I think. Still though, people will buy it.
thats 5/5 herpa derps from me, quality and price wise
£20 for 5 marines, now 2 for the special price of £55, while stocks last. hehe
That is all……..
The only thing that is epic is the price!
Good grief man, I can get three quality WW1 resin figures for that and still have change to buy the paints.
There is very little tension or drama in it as far as I can see, and the base is just rubble.
If they had chucked in a real diorama base then fair dos. But where is the grandeur that one would expect for what is supposed to be a seminal struggle?
I’ll be honest, I don’t read the novels so have no idea who Loken is or the battle at hand. Abaddon looks better than I expected for his pre heresy days.
But… for some reason, for a display piece it really has a static feeling to it. I take it it’s because in truth this is meant for game play and the base was an added feature afterwords. They could have done much better, but thats life.
I’m so put off by the price of these, but also by the fact that all the Heresy books are now more expensive than they used to be!
Regarding the pose of the models, they’re so close they should be swinging their weapons by this point, Abaddon is pulling his gauntlet back a bit, but the whole thing is off. I wasn’t keen when I saw the WIP at Games Day, I’m no more impressed now.
I think it would not be to hard to pull this off with kitbashing. In fact i may have a go myself. seeing as Abaddon and Loken are pretty much wearing standard armor with a embellishments. But i would of picked this up in a heart beat for £30-£35. Worried that the Primarchs are going to go up to £60-£70 now
Look forward to seeing it on your blog then buddy 🙂
I think FW need to stop annoying the hell out of me and make my Mortarion already. Last warning FW. Forget these minor idiot characters and give me my MORTY!
They are Ok sculps but nothing gob smacking. More like a £35 price tag than £55. Love Horus Heresay books and background but I wont be buying them.
