Darrell’s Thoughts on Obliterators
April 28, 2011 by dignity
Darrell has a chat about what he thinks is one of the best heavy support choices in Warhammer 40K, the Obliterators these poor wretches were once tech marines and tech priests but now with a techno virus forged in the warp flowing through there viens there bodies shift and change around them re-forming in to the weaopns that make them so feared on the battle field.

Sadly Darrell it is ‘just’ a twin-linked flamer 🙂 I love Obliterators. Predators suck – if they had a Heavy 4 Autocannon, like the size of the gun would suggest, then they wouldn’t be as bad. They are expensive for what they do, or in my case don’t do, – in fact I sold mine 🙂 The option to Deep Strike is always a good one if you’re brave enough as you can really put the fear of God (pick one) into your enemy. Otherwise Obliterators can take on any kind of enemy which is what you pay 75pts for.… Read more »
They are the perfect unit when you dont know what you are going to face in a tournament. They have something that can hurt every enemy.
I used to have a chaos marine army and these guys were just so versatile you can’t pass them up in my opinion. Doesn’t matter if your up against horde or mech, these guys can put on the hurt good.
Having played as CSM’s for many years, I originally didn’t like the Obliterator models, as they were metal and expensive. Last year, I decided to try Obliterators out by taking 3 Chaos Terminators and converting them into something that looked like them. They are probably the best heavy support unit for Chaos, but I do like to have a pie plate-chucking Defiler alongside them to blow stuff up! Costly in points but they have weapons to suit all occasions – Don’t leave for the battlefield without them!
I always included at least one unit of Oblits in my CSM armies. They are tough and can put the hurt on any type of foe.
i like this models, they look really good. but do someone remeber the first version? ^^ they looked kind of funny ^^ when i finish painting my csm termis, ill get myself some obis, but i dont like metal models… im more the plastic-model guy…
One of my friends has a lot of the old ones. When i first saw them i thought: WTF did he do to those poor metal Termies? They were horribad sculpts.
If i were to start Chaos Marines (Thousand Sons) I’d definitively use Obliterators and style them up as egyptian statues.
ive always wanted to know, why the hell is there an assault cannon on the arm when it isnt on the profile? just wonderin thats all
They used to have assault cannons, but they got removed
