Dark Sword Add A Mass Of Miniatures To Their Line-Up!
September 9, 2013 by brennon
Dark Sword Miniatures have added a mass of new miniatures to their line-up, twenty two of them in fact. Now, that's far too many to put in here so if you want to see the full selection click HERE. However, here are some choice picks!
We start off with the classic Elmore Dragon that was the focus of a fundraiser not long ago. I still think this is quite a masterful piece of work and while it's expensive I think it captured the piece of artwork well.
Leading the charge for their G.R.R. Martin line is Tormund Giantslayer, an epic Wildling Raider. I picked him out because he looks awesome and he has the name Giantslayer, what's not to like about that?
Alongside this guy there is also a range of Archers from the lands of Westeros for you to check out.
On the female front Dark Sword have gone to the two ends of the spectrum. On the one hand they have the understated Wood Elf Goddess chilling out in the forest and on the other there is this Female Super Hero too. I'm fairly sure she needs a bigger costume!
They haven't forgotten their animal models either! While I'm not such a fan of the Female Fox Mage I think the Sea Turtle Pirate is insanely awesome. I love the character of this guy and it's just begging to be used in a role-playing game of some kind.
Go check out some of the other releases and let me know in the comments below what has caught your eye.
What do you think?
That’s a sweet paint job on that dragon but the Female Super Hero might be a little top heavy lol.
Heh, just like the Freebooters Fate Chaos Demon, it’s nothing a bit of greenstuff won’t fix.
Fur-lined corsets for everybody! 😀
Some good looking sculpts here, but that super hero… If you were trying to make a spoof depiction of sexism in geek culture either for the purpose of critique or just to mock the maturity of certain corners of the hobby, I don’t think you could do a better job of it than Dark Sword did by accident(?). The side and rear views from their page make it look even worse.
Kind of disappointing coming from Dark Sword, who usually do a better job when choosing their cheesecake.
Ouch. Yeah.. that pose is.. weird, and far beyond my limited conversion skills to modify that miniature into something I’d be prepared to put on the tabletop.
Shame, really, because there aren’t a lot of good super hero minis in the ~30mm scale. Pulp City minis are nice, but too specific. The Chronoscope range from Reaper is nice and generic but often a bit.. clunky looking, same for the old SuperFigs range because time hasn’t been kind on them.. and unless you want to paint up some ‘Clix you are pretty much out of options.
If i’m being a massive pedant (which clearly I am), it’s Tormund Giantsbane! Cool model, really wish they didn’t waste so much time and effort on these cruddy anthropomorphic figures though, they look like something from a gift shop in Glastonbury.
That Elmore Dragon looks great. Tormund, Wood Elf Goddess and that Power Girl inspired looking Female Super Hero are also very nice. Then there is more animal characters that could be used in Iron Claw RPG.
there is something that just seems right about that Female Super Hero… cant put my finger on it… ^.^
