They sound scary!
What about “stun taloning” a Big Mek? That’s all I can think of.
You need to wound them first… D3 STR:4 AP:–… harder than you think.
BoW Andy
I agree, it sounds like fluff rule than actually useful, but it would be fun to stun talon someone like Pedro Kantor or someone else that give their squad or everyone nearby a buff. That’s the only way I can see it being useful, have them assault, grab the guy, run away, and then have another unit assault. But you are right, it would be hard to do. But all you gotta do is roll a 4+ twice and then have the fail their armour save…
I played dark eldar for a long time. I loved the wyches in 4th deition. get them into combat in a guard or tau gun line and they would just chew through the line. in 5th, keeping them alive is a nightmare. You generally kill the unit they hit (if they make it there in the first place) but them you’re doomed as anything can shoot them to death. I think the whole feel no pain token is a god send for the girls. if you can get furious charge too, then you’re laughing. especially with Ms. Hesperex in there!… Read more »
Argh so many choices now. Standard Kabalites, wyches, hellions or haemonculi based army. I’ll probably go for a bit of a mix, but then which first? It will be a couple of months before I get the models so I shall peel myself through the codex while Im waiting to decide. It certainly seems like theyve made everything better. I used to field haemonculus cults before but they didnt work very well, I think it’l be much better now with the wracks and the grotesques aswell as the 2 types of talos! Infact, I thik Im talking myself into something… Read more »
I think it’s pretty sad how negative you guys are being. I have played Dark Eldar for a very long time, and I feel as if the new Codex is a great boon to a pretty lethal army. I get that you’re all used to playing Necrons and Marines of one flavor or another, but just because they don’t posses toughness 4 and 3+ armor saves does not mean that they are terrible. Try playing a game against an experienced Dark Eldar player, and you will soon understand what I mean.
I agree! The only ‘worst nightmare’ for warriors is flamers as Ive found out too often..
It’s hard to get excited when you’re looking at a set of troops that will die almost immediately unless you get a cover save.
At 9pts for a (basic) Kabalite Warrior and 12pts for a (basic) Wytch, it’s a substantial amount of points to invest in something you must buy to hold objectives.
It’s the reason I would go for the Wracks every time. 10pts (as far as I remember) but they come with T:4 and Feel No Pain, they also get some great kit. Much better for holding an objective than a troop of flimsy warriors and only 1pt extra.
BoW Andy
Sorry… 10pts for a Wytch +2 for Haywire Grenades… so 12pts really! 😉
Rakarth’s gonna be really good in a unit as he’ll effectively be able to negate a wounding hit on his unit each turn, and with his toughness of 5 you can plant any hits below strength 10 on him knowing he’s gonna just heal the damage anyway…
Plus the model is awesome!
He also has a Clone Field that allows him to ignore D3 hits that get through his other saves… 😉
That will be discussed soon… stay tuned… 🙂
i agre that the new codex is a grate help to the dark eldar army and that the new models look grate . they have really done a grate job of revamping and older army to fit in with the new 40k and yes they are not strong with there stats but if u know what u are doing and have some good luck with the dice then they can really kill most armys but i dont think i want to face Darrell’s armys he goes for to much cheese . later guys
I think those Kabalites are brilliant.
9 Points, bunch of special rules and a 4/4 Skills.
I would take them over my regular Eldar-guardians any day.
Even the weappon is far better.
I prefer the Kabalite Trueborns (Elite choice) to back up the Wracks (as a Troop choice granted by a Homunculus HQ), they’re just a bit more expensive, they get A:2 and can take 2 Dark Lances in a 5 man unit… they use the same models as the Warriors… 😉
Stay tuned for the Kabalite Warrior unboxing… it might not be Warriors I build… 😉

Quick question, in relation to the skyboard special hit and run rule. With hit and run can you go in any direction after leaving the combat? It might be a good way to drag a character back away from your lines and force him to miss a round or two of slaughtering your guys..
I would like to know if its worth taking the champion on the wyches, to add an agoniser to the squad?
Can I buy those dice. No 1’s on 18 rolls! WOW
When I saw the DE troop choices i liked the look of wracks too. The only problem with them is that they don’t seem to have any models out for them, and If GW isn’t making models for wracks, I don’t really want to make an army full of conversions.
Darrell let Andy talk. You do not have to control the conversation.
Wyches squads with a Hermonculs leading them, 4+ FnP at the start of the game on these gals seems like too much fun. am going to be running a Wych cult army, just for the cool, my final 1500 list has me deploying 8 fast skimmers =D. hell if i get blow’n up one transport at a time, i’ll have fun being blown up!
@powermonkey Im sure there will be minis for them. In White Dwarf they basically said that this month was the releases of the Kabalite troops…. then over the next few months the other sections will get their releases… so not long to wait!
I agree the wyches are the best troops choice, but the “leaping barbarian” models turn me off. Sorry, but I can’t wrap my head around the idea of muscular elfs. Maybe if they were less bulky.
The kabalites were the ones who perked my interested in the new dark eldar. You can “see” the depravity drip off them. They’re the embodiment of what the dark eldar are, and its a shame not all of the new models followed suit.
I’m spamming the kabalites, within some sort of transport, and work on my “evil/insane” laugh…
My archon stood infront of a 10 man guard infantry squad and a 10 man kasarkin squad, all with special weapons and close range at 4″, survived a round of shooting, then took out the infantry squad while the cronos took out the kasarkins and survived to the end of the game!
Shadow field is definately the best save in the game.
