The New Dark Eldar OFFICIAL!
September 13, 2010 by lloyd
After allot of speculation (though let’s be honest it’s not been much of a secret) Games Workshop have made it official, Dark Eldar will be getting the TLC that they have been denied for so very long.
In fact I think Dark Eldar are the most left out in the cold 40K race there is, I’m pretty sure the rest have all had updates before these S&M loving creatures of the metal night.
Anyway there will be more coming out of GW soon and from the looks of this page a lot at Games Day.

Honestly can’t wait. Love the concept and imagery of the Dark Eldar, I hope the new models are just as good
Too long a wait.
Back when I was a wee lad I would walk miles to play a game at the local gamesworkshop. Back then Dark Eldar where call Frazinwazers and you got them in the begginers box. They just loved shooting at the big flying thing that the Ultraguys came with. I think it was called a landspeeder or a doohicky thingy. Back then you could buy a battle force for $1 or 2 chickens, what ever was worth more at the time. We did’nt have none of those new fangiled things like “tape measures” we spit and if you hit the model… Read more »
I just had to login and give kudos to you! r0Fl
Someone’s been stuck in the cages under Commorragh for too long it seems 😉
Whoop!!!! These are gonna be awesome!
Get ready to see a massive wave of DE players in the future.
Apparently because the new models have been delayed for so long is due to the fact that no body in the GW headquarters felt that they could write the new rules for the models as it would be too much of a challenge for them, thank god somebody decided to have a bash at it, these guys deserve a overhall. Thanks GW for giving us new cannon fodder for everyone to aim at and giving new recruits to have an option to play evil elves instead.
It’s funny, I think that with a little thought, it would be easy to write decent rules for them, but after 12 years you think someone could have taken a saturday afternoon and done it.
I hope the DE skimmers will get to move in the assault phase again, but they probably are going to disallow that little trick and make things bland and boring so that spezzmuhreenz can kill them easier.
i use dark eldar as “regular” eldar with some small modifications couse i think they look more sinister witcht fits my painting style witch is best descibed as unclutered by talent…i wish there was a spell check at the bottom of a beer
Which wych is witch?
I wish there was a beer at the bottom of a dictionary lol
My credit card spontaneously combusted when I got GWs e-mail 😀
squats are the most left out in the cold race ever. do they even exist in the 40k universe anymore…. did the dark eldar wipe them out?
no the nids did, they ate their planet erasing them from 40k.
Squats just got a new model for 40k (last white dwarf mini)…..it must be rough to be a Dark Eldar player and think that the Squats have a newer model than you, at least Dark Eldar still have a codex.
As messed up as it sounds. I do believe that the ‘White Dwarf’ mini that you speak of is a WF dwarf not a 40k Squat.
As for the squats, if I’m not mistaken they were turned into ratlings.
i thought ratlings already existed and the squats became the Demiurgs that pop up in BFG?
Ratling’s where halfling’s were they not? :-s
Yay?
has anyone else noticed those things in the air a pescimist would say naa they just jetbikes or mayhap they are new flying vehicles for the dark eldar …
I pointed the pic out to my son, a DA player, he shruged and said that that was an old pic.
I want a Dark Eldar all Jetbike army!
I’m just a bit worried about the new DA codex. My son with his very out dated 3ed edition codex has only ever been beaten by two people. With how overpowered and cheese filled the newer codex’s seem to be, I’m worried about how powerful the DA may become.
Will I still be able to beat him with the new codex?….
DA are actually a 4th edition codex /being pedantic DA shouldn’t be that hard to beat in the current edition, their lack of upgraded equipment (stormshields etc) should give you an edge unless you’re also using a 4th edition army.
Well, imo the Squats are the most left out in the cold race… 😉
this alone has me wanting to play 40k…i still have my free dark eldar from the white dwarf 12 years ago 🙂
Bout bloody time.
I wonder if the rules were written with 5e in mind (heavy mech) or as their own army with the same “lightning hit and run” they have now. If the latter, I honestly don’t see them with a lot of high-end competitiveness.
Finally, and im not a dark eldar player, but i think brings back a little fairness into the game: I was getting sick of the new codexes absoulutley anihilating the oldder ones, all we need now are new necron, Eldar, black templar, inquisitorial and dark angel codexes to make things fair!
The problem is before these codexes are finished 6th edition will come around and we’ll be back to square one 😀 Unfortunately with the way GW writes books the next one is inevitibly more powerful than the previous one to deal with something in the previous one.
it’s the never ending cycle of torment that gw relish. there are too many armies to write a codex between each release. they should write one good set of rules and give everyone a chance to catch up or wait a little longer than 3 years to release a new money grubbing venture into 40k.
Why can’t GW just write a decent rulebook, and write all of the codexes at the same time? I think it would be a lot more balanced after that, instead of Uberdexes and nerfdexes.
Deathfire, that kind of army book would be kind of booring, whit no army spesific fluff or artwork, and most armys would have to wait for ages for models. They tried the one big book aproach in prior to 3rd ed of fantasy, and they dident continue. And Jaqdraco, GW usualy waits for 4 years before releasing a new main rule set, but its true, they could have given some of the older lists some loving, even tho it was just a quick PDF whit no new mini releases, just to keep the old lists from being compleatly rubbish, tho… Read more »
Actually mdrake, if you had read my comment, I didn’t say all the codex together, I said just write them at the same time: all books released together, (not in the one big book), release lots of models together. So no massive wait. I salute you Dark Eldar players for holding out so long for models.
