Darrell along with Andy hijack a game pitting the brand new Dark Angels against the evil Dark Eldar to bring us a first look at what the new codex has to offer.
Turn 2 Deathwing Assaults can be useful in a couple of situations, first off you could use a locator beacon on a turn 1 drop pod or a Ravenwing unit to prevent the 1 in 6 mishap when your target is in a patch of dense cover.
Secondly you could use it to respond to one of their drop pods if they have a cheesey or beardy squad in that drop pod (and you either selected or were forced to go first).
yeah, i agree with this having thought more about it, i dont think it’ll happen often, but there will definitely be situations that arise in games where the dark angels player is going first and that flexibility of being able to guarantee that unit of termies is arriving turn 2 to react to something nasty the opponent has will be very handy.
How about pitting them against some Chaos space marines. See how then new codexes fair against each other.
Good Report look forward to more
I second the vote for chaos to play against them, reckon that could be pretty tight.
Hey guys love the videos ! but please if your willing can you start running it though an audio compressor ? Almost all of the editing programs out there have one build in FCP etc etc. A compressor will help make it to where when someone it talking low you can still hear it and when someone gets load it does not blow speakers. This will just make your videos more professional and make them more fun to watch.
Great work !
you guys say the dark angels arnt great i personnaly think they are as deathwing knights are only 2 points more per man than standard termis 2points for all the cool upgrades and i think a slight stat increase also test them against tyranids to see if there really that weak as tyranids are at the moment
It’s a pitty, we haven’t seen yet another battle.
Not bad analysis i guess, been better if more of the new stuff was in the game and if it was mabye against a more competitive army as well. C:SM would be fun, especially with so much anti Chaos stuff in the DA book
Has a more poorly balanced game than recent editions of WH40K ever been written and released by a professional writer/ team of writers (I’m talking about games which are presented as having intended balance between sides, games like Blood Bowl which have deliberate and admitted tier systems do not apply)? I asking seriously. 95% of the time since 3rd edition was written is been the Marines, far and away the best selling model line (coincidence – I think not!), versus the dross of the rest. Rare instances of other armies becoming competitive (such as Guard at the moment) are transparent… Read more »
Played properly Dark Eldar can kick any armies ass and they don’t cower behind 12 and 14 amour tanks and 3 and 2+ armour saves. A true players army, not to mention they are the most exquisite models in the 40k game.
It may very well be the case that you do well with Dark Eldar in your local area, but why are they hardly ever seen on the top tables of the big tournaments? Why do ways of making sure that they are “played properly” elude so many experienced and skillful players? The thrust of my argument, I would submit, stands.
How are you guys going to do a review on something with new units and jazz.. and not bring the new units? Seriously? WTF is wrong with you guys?
You could’ve said that in a more polite manner
I have to agree, I was expecting to find out how the new units faired rather than space marines vs Dark Eldar. You can do better than this.
Want to see LIVE ROUNDS with the new guys and for the love of Pete bring a good army of chaos/daemon allies to table against some NEW D.A. army. Then lets see the new guys and you guys have a go at each other. 1…2…CHEESE.
I agree that the live battle you guys did was clunky and not totally satisfactory, but on the other hand, these autopsy reports are telling/teaching me nothing. Can we have something in the middle – maybe an edited ‘not quite live’ battle? I also think that you should try to keep things as balanced as possible, so all Darrel’s cheesemeister armies are banned, as are ‘dont have a chance’ armies, as DE seemed to be in this case. One more point…. You guys always consider tactics from an offensive pov, which is good, but how about more daily tips or… Read more »
What was the DE list used?
