“unless you’re an idiot” is in the 6th edition book as a special rule
Another great vid on the DA guys dont totally agree with everything in it (again) but i realise that’s because you’re all tourney minded players and Im not really.
What’s your thoughts on the chapter relics armory section?
I kinda like a few of the things in but you never really talked about it. Is that because you’d never use it or did you just never really get round to it?
It seems you guys haven’t made your homework on this codex : just to point one of the most blatant error, about the aura of effect wargear rules :
Q: Do embarked passengers with ‘area of effect’ wargear, such as
the Big Mek’s Kustom Force Field, measure the range of such items
from the hull of the transport they are embarked upon? (p78)
A: Yes.
a command squad with a libby and power field generator in a land raider is awesome. surround it by Rzrbacks with 10 man tac squads walking behind it as cover gives everything a 4+ invul and gives all the marine the salvo weapons, measuring from the hull of the Land Raider. not once during my last tourney was the banner in harms way, with the exception of the scarabs that the land raider got hit by.
The only problem with the power field gene is it works for the enemy aswell so got to be careful with that
Arcanthias and Coxey292 have pretty much said it all in regards to the banners.
Shame on you Darrel for not smelling this obvious cheese from a mile away 🙂
Yes you are correct I missed some possible cheese. Let’s hope they don’t faq it badly
also, boys, bikes are relentless so can always shoot 4 shots bike per turn at 24 inches with 12 inches of movement
Fellas, you mentioned the possibility of sticking a commander on a bike but note 2 on the war gear chart (which is applied to bikes) says that commanders can’t have one… Which is a damn shame because I converted my spare commander out of the Vengeance box to be on a feckin bike – that’s 2 waisted hours of my life I won’t be getting back ;o(
A librarian in a LR is a waste. He cannot use his blessings inside. There are better ways for the power field trick.
Hey guys, great video! I’m new to the site but I’ve really enjoyed pretty much every vid I’ve seen so far, so keep it up! A couple mentions: 1. The sacred standards are NOT one per army, only the chapter banner and ravenwing/deathwing banners are. 2. The Ravenwing (& Deathwing – in the Errata) company champions are one per army. The book says: “One Ravenwing black knight IN THE ARMY may be upgraded to the Ravenwing Champion replacing…” NOTE: the Deathwing command squad entry was worded differently implying that the model is from the command squad itself – changed in… Read more »
“1. The sacred standards are NOT one per army, only the chapter banner and ravenwing/deathwing banners are.”
They Are. Page 66: ‘Only one of the Sacred Standards May be chosen per army’
Also, the mace of Redemption is Epic 😛
lol fair enuogh, I was following along with them in the video at the time & they said it when reading the profile with the asterix, missed it in the other part, my bad & apologies
I hear the blade of caliban sucks; something to do with being basically a relic blade that’s unwieldy, I think. GW still haven’t sent me my codex and I’ve had it ordered for almost three weeks now but that’s what I’ve heard from other places. Also you can stack up a fair amount of crap with the salvo banner. 25 marines behind an aegis defense line with two librarians dishing out rerolls and then chuck in a power field generator and of course the apothecary for the command squad then you can get quite a tough gunline. The thing I… Read more »
As seen above, there are problems with the salvo banner. 25 marines stuck in one spot is like throwing all your armies in one basket. Most armies always have some means of getting around this. Either drop pods with stearnguard etc or leman russ battle tanks with large blasts, even necrons can get units to deep strike down beside you. A monolyth would even be useful in this circumstance. The tau have longer range weapons and could just pick you off. It’s also not much use in an objective based game. In generalthe banner is most benificial to tactical marines… Read more »
the hqs are pretty nice from the sound of it… their lv2 librarian is 50 points cheaper than mine :L still dont understand your belief that librarians are useless in combat but ah well… and you can take a storm shield with a two handed weapon its in the space marine faq with their relic blades!
Again, your reviewing a codex, and getting several rules wrong.. 1st one i can think of: Company Masters can’t take Bikes 2nd one: You rip on the Company Masters, but the special wargear/relics etc, are quite Amazing. 3rd: The relic Shroud of Heros dose not give Shroud to the unit, just himself and only if not in a unit (which obviously means just himself) 4th: Again, this one just shows your lack of perfesionalizm. A standard rule in the rule book Salvo. You speak of this new banner we have “Standard of Devistation” that turns our bolters into Salvo 2/4.… Read more »
A Hurricane Bolter (as per the description in the DA codex) “consists of 3 twin linked Bolters firing as one weapon”. Bolters are affected by the Salvo banner. Use Deathwing command squad with that banner in the crusader and flank it with 2 Ravenwing attack squadrons (run the attack bikes within the 3″ bubble of the raider also). That gives them a Jink save naturally as they ride along side (throw in a Darkshoud behind the raider for stealth) and those bikers relentless Bolters will fire 24/turn from 6 bikes. You can flank either side with a squadron. Add 4… Read more »
I’ve just seen a list running 4 crusaders. Dirty
Aoch, that’s one nasty bunch of comments. Not much room for constructive criticism there
If I read the rules right Salvo 2/4 it meand that if the unit moves then its bolters fire 2 shots at 12″. If they stay stationary then they fire 4 shots at 24″ (Correct me if i’m wrong). Either way it does force troops to be more static because there is absloutly no benifit gained in moving.
True. This is where Relentless bikers & Hurricane Bolters on vehicles come into use, if you’re worried about being stationary.
Well I guess it would have its uses in a raven wing army, especially in turn 1 to thin down the opponent.
I know this is old but the techmarines are slightly changing now, you should compare the ‘servo arm’ and ‘bolster defences’ rules to the other books
Iam getting the Deathwing command Squad and i wanted to ask if i can make an apothecary with th/ss ?
