The guys get to grips with the last section of the new Dark Angels Codex with the Heavy Support section will this be the one so set there world on fire or will it be a bit of a wet squib?

If it comes to be commonly accepted that the Devastation banner DOES affect vehicles, then it’s worth noting that Relentless DOES allow salvo weapons to be fired as though the model were stationary, even after having moved, and that all vehicles are counted as having relentless. Land Raider Crusaders would benefit from it magnificently, and even the Darktalon flier might be able to claim the buff.
what’s up with the video quality? it looks out of focus
An excellent theme week, guys – more please, and dont just concentrate on new books/games.
Great Video!!!I couldn’t here where you mentioned about the third party land raider upgrade kits? Who makes them?
Hey guys, nice vid.
100% right about the vengeance, it’s too many points and too short ranged. Really annoying I was excited by the model in the white dwarf.
just to confirm: as said in the comments for your HQ video, the banner does work from within the vehicle (& of course does affect hurricane bolters).
Only thing you guys missed you only really half missed. The Land Raiders (all) FAQ point says “change the last option for each Land Raider to: “May be upgraded to a Deathwing Vehicle….”
That changes the option that used to say if it was a dedicated transport is has to have it; therefore none of them have to have it, but all of them can, as transports or Hv Support.
I agree.
Also something to keep in mind about the Land Speeder Vengeance, the primary fire mode does not fire blast templates as Andy said. It’s just Heavy 3, so effectively a 3 shot plasma gun (sort of) vs a large plasma blast.
I was wrong here, as a dedicated transport it has to be taken, Hv support options can choose.
devies two and two works combat squad them e.g. 2 heavy bolters in one squad 2 lascannons in another not my favourite way of using them but certainly viable.
I will throw my support behind the vindicator sheer fear factor alone is worth it but it regularly blows holes in things for me.
Who cares whether the standard of devastation can affect hurricane bolters? What happens when they get to the other side? Do they stand still and get charged or do they charge out? If they cheesily try to run multiple LRC’s + objective holders I’ll laugh before I deep strike and kill all of their min sized scoring units!
The power behind the standard is that you form a gunline which keeps as many marines with boltguns under the banner and you hose anything before it can charge you. I can’t see that changing the fact that gunlines generally lose if you can deliver enough troops into it. Marines might be tougher in CC than guard but enough transports, drop pods, or terminators can still take one down.
Besides like you guys said 3 whirlwinds with castellan missiles should burn out those tightly packed squads! Also whirlwinds easily out range bolters and forcing them to run devastators works in your favour as it cuts down on the number of bolters they can afford. The standard of devastation is new and gimmicky give it a few weeks and DA players will put it away when they realise that static gunlines are the best use for it and we all know how to beat the tried and true archetypes!
third party parts are from scibor they’ve got 3 versions so far available through wayland
Well trying to ignore my disappointment and trying to look for positives. The main thing I can think of is that a few weeks down the line I will be the only guy who plays Dark Angels at our club. Which kind of suits me.
I think I would have been equally disappointed if they had been the army to break 6th and everyone played them.
In 40K I only play the two armies DA and Eldar. Within each of the two codices you can build quite a number of diverse lists.
My DA armies usually have Librarian in so the points reduction will help to field more toys.
By far the best thing for me has been the Deathwing 10 man squads of termies coming down
in the same twin linked turn.
BRB FAQ page 6:
Q: Do embarked passengers with ‘area of effect’ wargear, such as the Big Mek’s Kustom Force Field, measure the range of such items from the hull of the transport they are embarked upon? (p78)
A: Yes.
