Is it just me or does this game have a passing resembalence to Necromunda: malfunctioning weapons, cyberetic augmented factions, religious factions, high tec weapons factions swamp beasties and low level post apoc gang fighting. Not saying this is a bad thing Necromunda was the best game GW has produced so far.
The game looks good but what appeals to me is the stuning minis coming out of Dark Age
Rules are completely different from Necromunda. The odd similarity in concepts, but Necromunda didn’t make those up either.
The game definitely looks interesting and the figures are top notch, but theres just not enough incentive though for me to get into it. All the factions are cool, but none of the minis or fluff makes me thing “WOW I NEED TO GET THIS GAME”
If you want to see some of the minis in person, check out our booth at Gen Con. Any requests for what you want to see?
I’ve now got to get some of these miniatures instead of saving up, thanks you two ;P
Mean Purple Jelly Beans and the Puddle of Doom!
Great review chaps, very much enjoyed it.
Sounds a little bit like Anima Tactics and Songs of Blades and Heroes, am liking the way the system works.
Groovy concepts and the minis thus far look good too.
Dang might have to get into this sometime! lol
Outcasts look great fun, would be my first pick.
Skarrd FTW!
It does sound like Darrell accidentally read some fluff. Or does he have cue cards 😛
@quirkworthy – No… I read the fluff to him while he was tucked up in bed… although I had to leave the light on afterwards.
Jake… you know we here at BoW live like Morecambe and Wise! 😀

Andy & Darrell with the sausages in the kitchen 😉
And that’s how you play Cluedo!
Thanks for the innuendo Quirky
It has burned the image indelibly into my mind
lol
Happy to help 🙂
I can appreciate it’s innovation, depth and the more cool wargames out there the better! it’s top notch – but it’s not really my personal taste, but then again I tend to have a pretty niche taste anyway, when it comes to aliens – they have to be non-humanoid or preferably lovecraftian, but that’s just me – I hope this games a success for it’s makers as I can tell they spent a lot of work on it 🙂
Thanks guys, I’m tempted to look into it more – I shall have to proxy some stuff and have a game or two with my brother. The models are sweet enough, so we shall see – it’s another game for the ever increasing list 🙂
Guess the canibals have to be it for me – even better if Darrels Cook had been in there
Already have a ton of Dark Age that I used in RPG’s and believe it or not – Necromunda & Trinity Battleground. Looks like this new edition has enough oompf to pull me in! Rock it! 😀
Good overview BTW!
Outcasts and Dragyri are definatly superiour sculpt-wise
Hey thanks for the overview, I have been considering this game for quite some time. I have just been waiting to see some more reviews. After gencon of course I plan on doing a review myself.
I think my gaming group tried Dark Age once years ago. Didn’t really get it then. I think we were more intriqued by the nice minis, not the actual setting and rules. After watching the Spotlight my interrest peaked again, so maybe we’ll give Dark Age: Apocalypse a try with the quickstart rules. Anyway, I’ll defenately be getting some Outcast models.
