Daemonhunters Holocaust Psychic Power | Daily Tips
September 16, 2010 by lloyd
Darrell has a look at using the Daemonhunters Holocaust Psychic Power. It’s quite a cool power for the points, but is it worth taking? Remember you have to be careful when you fire that you don’t fry your own troops, but I like it when you have a weapon you can potential hurt yourself with it adds some extra fun and water cooler moments to the game.
Note: Darrell is proxing Daemonhunter Terminators with the vanilla Ultramarines Terminators.

I think he would hit hisself
No, but he would hit his friends and foes.
He is casting it outward
The description of this power in the Grey Knights Omnibus is pretty cool, a battle brother wrecks a whole group of enemy.
i love that description, when Tancred and his squad basically annihilate most of the enemies with one blast
The problem with the power is that, thanks to the defenders having to move into base contact in close combat, you won’t be hitting too many enemies without hitting one or two friends. Worked a lot better in the last edition.
Still can work against large mobs of stuff like orkz and ‘nids, one squad at least should have this to be on the safe side.
Thanks guys! Good to know I can save 20pts, that’s like half a razorback. Hopefully with the new Inquisition rules we’ll get some decent powers.
yes finally a daemonhunter video!
I don’t belive this, i start watching these tips videos and what do i see, the Terminaters I sold on ebay nearly a year and a half ago.
ok 2 things. if gk termies cast this 1 gk’s are immune to ‘minor psychic powers’ so it wouldnt hit them even if they cast it. neither would it hit other gks if they were close enought to get hit by it 2 it requires a independate chariter or a squad to use this power. if the ic uses it in a squad he is considered to the focus of the effect BUT the squad is also considered to be casting the power aswell as the ic. they will all take the effects of perils of the warp not just… Read more »
Minor powers don’t exist anymore so you ignore that bit of the rule, and even if it did nothing says holocaust is a minor power Aegis does not protect them from their own power, only enemy powers. If a GK is under the template he gets hit. That’s the way it’s always been.
This psychic power is good againist swarms of enemies and good for a last resort so I think this is a good power and tip.
Even though Minor psychic powers don’t exist anymore if you read the pdf version of the codex where it summerises the aegis it says “only minor psychic powers used by the grey knights will have any effect on Grey knights” which suggests that the holocaust has no effect on grey knights only on allied units that may be fighing in the same combat as the Grey Knights. I personally like Holocaust, I wouldn’t take it for my grand master but my unit of elite terminators with the brother captain always has it since his nemisis weapon doesn’t count as a… Read more »
Ok… the DH psycher can use the power two ways. Base edge, where he is free from being hit, or over his base, in which case he follows normal hitting rules (can’t argue with “All models, friend or foe, under the template suffer a strength 5 hit,” All is quite clear). In a fight you are going to miss a lot of your foes, that is ok, that isn’t why we took this power. The REAL power of this ability is that is is used in the assault faze, but dosent require you have reached your opponet yet. So… you… Read more »
guess I was too excited… many spelling erroes sorry.
Your logic about the assault phase thing actually seems to have no flaw and that scares me…… lol
I still say that grey knights touched by it don’t take the hit see my previous points as to reaons why
