The Crooked Dice Astronauts Blast Off
June 11, 2012 by dracs
Crooked Dice have now released their new Astronaut minis, with painted images being posted both on their home page and their Facebook.
Having watched Iron Sky this weekend my imagination is on fire with thoughts for games taking place across the moon base of the villain, perhaps these minis might be the way to achieve such a scenario. Now does anyone know where I can get some space Nazis?
Crooked Dice have also published this preview image of what looks to be a rather suave new addition to their range.
This image was taken from the Crooked Dice newsletter (which you can subscribe to by following the instructions on the left of their homepage) and shows the new miniature of Dr Hugo Solomon.
Will any of you be jetting off to space? What do you think of the good Doctor?

Dr Solomon is looking very dapper in full suit and waistcoat…if the guns are all for him he’s going to be tooled up too! Usually Crooked Dice stuff is inspired by an old TV series but I can’t place this guy, does anyone else know where he’s from?
I do know where the astronauts come from however:

😉
Even less on the ball than normal an missed the question
It’s Jason King

Cheers @chibi – as a whippersnapper relying on re-runs I don’t get them all. Might have to check that show out, I love the old-school implication he gets all the ladies with his manly ‘tache whereas nowadays Warren would call him 100% Blood Angel… 😉
Those were the days.
When hirsute meant a hairy chest, ‘tache and sideburns and nothing to do with women power dressing.
Noooooo thc! Don’t do it! You are too young to suffer that way….
*Cringes at the awful joke Chibi dug up from the long forgotten grave!*
Those astronauts are packing some bunch. Over all those are rather nice sculpts dispite not having so much detail in them as some other models these days. In that sense I get little retro feel from them and thats not just becouse of design althought that surely does it as well.
I actually have an Eagle Transporter model from my childhood somewhere.
Wrong scale for those figures probably, but still. What with these and whole captain scarlett inspired stuff, I have to say I love what crooked dice are doing.
Fingers crossed for Joe 90 and the stingray crew next!
I don’t remember this show but it looks like the models match that video @thc303 posted.
Space 1999 was the second of Gerry Anderson’s live action series.
Trouble with putting dates in the title is that it looks a tad silly
AFAIK the moon is still in earth orbit!
Although we have been invaded by aliens wearing motorcycle helmets lol
Good grief! A Jason King miniature!
Crooked Dice have no shame.
thank goodness! lol
RoFL! Happi don’t look now but your age is showing..;)
lol Senior moments are now my specialty
I love crooked dice’s stuff, inch hi sci fi is such a great tag line. Any chance the BOW staff can do some videos or articles on 7tv?
I havn’t seen the rules for these figures from 7Tv but the more I see of the figures the more I plan to get some for their nostalgia value alone.
I think Jason could do with some biger flairs in those trousers though.
I can remember all the shows mentioned back to Mike Mercury and supercar.
Supercar was the first Gerry Anderson show I can remember.
The western was before my time!
I remember Space Patrol and their spinning top spaceships.
@chibi Oh god space patrol I had forgotten that one you will obviously remember Fireball XL5
But of course. Fireball XL5 was kind of creepy back then but I loved it.
I always wanted a flying scooter that becomes the control seat for the coolest rocket ship ever!
Although flying through the universe on what is essentially a motor bike seat must start to chaff by Uranus.
