Crassus Transport from Forge World
April 22, 2011 by beerogre
Are your ordinary transports just not big enough?
Then why not try Forge World's Imperial People Carrier... sorry... the Crassus Transport.
This is a monster of a machine. Just the right size to ship a platoon of Terminators right into the midst of the enemy!
What would you use it for?

I saw this in pics at the FW booth at shows and I immediatly wanted one. My entire IG army is based around the idea of a convoy so one of these would suit my theme down to the ground.
It looks a bit more ‘classic’ sci-fi than most guard stuff, so I think it might see some use in other 28mm/30mm systems too
Really looks good to me.
One of the best looking AFV’s I have seen for the Imperium.
There is a bit of the classic Sci-fi like you say, Havoc, but it has been synthesised well with the typical chassis type.
Have a couple of Rhino conversion projects lined up and this is superb inspiration.
Well at least its not another ‘variant’ turret or hull but come on seriously? £110? How do ForgeWorld justify that?
Well you are not forced to buy it and it does come in at the normal price for a super heavy. I really like the model but its usefulness is what worries me. Do we really need a lumbering 30 man transporter? It has very little offensive capacity when you think about it and does not have any gun ports, an assault ramp or multiple exits making it vulnerable to being surrounded and moshed. I like all the alternative leman russ and other stuff its really cool and if you have the money why not? It is usually a perfect… Read more »
Reminds me of Guants ghost at bit when they are being transport around.
Only problem one door, at the rear, so if someone place a unit in the way you can’t get out your infantry. Get model most like get one at games day
Even if your opponent didn’t have a unit outside the ONE door this awesome looking model would be hard to play in a game simply because it would be impossible to put 30 guys within 2″ of the exit when they disembark. Mathmatically you could disembark 14 -15 models on 25mm bases or 6 – 7 40mm ogryn bases.
Sounds like good feedback to send to FW for the playtest rules. But looking at the thing side by side with a Chimera, I’m convinced you could deploy all the models. This beast looks wider than a Chimera is long, and it looks like you could deploy a line of 10-12 right along the door and still be within 2″. You can then do a second line of maybe 11 and third line maybe 9-10, base to base. This works because the standard round base is 25mm diameter, which is less than 1″, so the third line could be situated… Read more »
i never liked the chimera transport…this is much better. i would definately see myself putting guardsmen in this instead of my usual valkyries.
I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE FORGEWORLD MODELS. THEY ARE PRODUCING HIGH QUALITY CONVERSIONS AND GREAT PIECES, BUT THE WEBSITE DOES NOT PRODUCE .PDF’S OF THE RULES FOR THE ITEMS ON THE PAGE WHERE YOU BUY IT. ANNOYING TO GO SEARCH FOR IT, EH? THEY SHOULD HAVE A SMALL LINE TO THE RULES ON THE ORDERING PAGE. IT WOULD HELP THE SALES TOO, CONDIDERING THE PEOPLE BUYING IT WOULD KNOW THE BONUSES OF BUYING A MORE EXPENSIVE THAN NORMAL-ISSUE CONVERSION OF A MODEL.
if you click to look at the other pictures they have a link to the experimental rules on the page as they only release the beta rules before a new Imperial Armour rules
Looks like there is enough space for a side exit.
The panel directly behind the sponson (with Aquila) could be converted to a door a la Rhinos
I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH PEOPLE WHO USE CAPSLOCK TO MAKE AN ARGUEMENT LOL
CHAOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
