The only thing to watch out for is trying to claim a cover save on a squadron, because they take cover saves as a unit, that rhino(more likely a chimera blocking some Lemans in my case) might block 2 out of 3 from one angle but only one from slightly to the side, and one out of three means NONE of the squadron get saves. Or If you have a particularly tall building or hill that lets them see over the front vehicle,
There’s a big problem with your Rhino leading the landraider trick. In order to get the cover save they need to be reasonably close otherwise the opponent will be able to angle in a shot with less than 50% obscured. The problem is in that the rhino disembark point is at the back, landraider is at the front i.e. if either is wrecked the unit inside is instantly destroyed as there wont be enough room to disembark. What you can do with vehicles that carry troops, is take them to thier destination with the front one or two popping smoke,… Read more »
Remember both Rhinos and Land Raiders have side access points so troops can disembark there. It’s tanks like Chimeras and Wave serpents where that would be the problem.
There was said if your vehicle is stuned or shaken you should fire smoke… I tried to do that but my friend said it is shooting smoke so i cant do that. So I’m a bit confused now. Can or cant you ‘shoot smoke’ if you are stuned or shaken?
Yes you are allowed to use smoke if your vehicle is stunned or shaken, it is under the smoke launcher bit in the main rulebook.
Yeah, smoke is always available. Its not a weapon and doesnt shoot at anything. And you should easily be able to get a 10 man squad out the side hatches, heck you can even get a 16 man out in the case of a LRC, you wont be in coherency when you do, but you just have to move to get into coherency next turn…
i think your totally right about smoke and disembarking
This is fairly useless for Tau for 3 reasons:
1. Our cheapest vehicle is a Piranha but it’s too small to give 2 vehicles a cover save.
2. Our cheapest vehicle thats big enough is a Devilfish and it’s 80 points basic, too expensive to sacrifice.
3. Disruption pods are infinitely better.
