Check out the latest pictures of the next wave of HDF terrain created by Micro Art Studio.
This looks like great stuff... and again... it's designed with Infinity in mind. So all you Infinity fans better be getting ready for an expensive summer!
Impressive looking stuff !! Sad thing is that it is actually so specifically designed for Infinity. Because yeah it fits the aesthetics of the game and the miniature range absolutely, but you will have a hard time to implement these in some other systems ( the major ones, not talking about the other near future scenarios ^^ of smaller companies, altough they are most likely to be 15mm scale anyways ) which is kind of a bummer 🙁
They look cool so far and maybe it’ll be a good way for Infinity players to fill out those boards. I hope they’re as modular as their walkways because if they are they’ll be a great little product. I’ve personally been waiting to see what they did with these buildings for quite some time now, their walkways are brilliant and the resin walls are also of a really high quality also. Partisan I wouldn’t worry too much about finding scenery for the other ‘major systems’ as you call them because there are plenty of scenery options out there for them.… Read more »
yeah I agree, but I really like this lasercutted system ! ^^
Yep its nice, I had some laser cut MDF scenery in my hands the other day and its got a really nice sturdy feel to it and its the sort of stuff you can be happy taking on and off a table and chucking in boxes. Also nice and sturdy stuff for wargaming clubs.
Looking really nice, I have to say. I’m curious to know how easy it is to get models in and out of the buildings, which IMO will be key to whether they’re just nice to look at or actually useful. If they’re designed well and are practical to game with then I can see these doing rather well.
Yeah that’s what I’d like to see as well JT (I’m Frontline Gamer by the way, still liking DKH) if those floors come apart easy enough but are stable when placed I’m sold.
I’d recognise that face anywhere 🙂
lol, I did have a shave recently though 😉
Did it calm you down though?
Calm me down!!! Hey I’m always calm… some might say calculating. Just don’t ask me about Finecast. lol. To be fair I’m normally quite reasoned when talking about product not emanating from the Lenton Lane area of Nottingham.
Would use for Necromunda
The walkways were a little pricey for me otherwise would buy by the bucket load lol
They seem to be functional Quirkworthy, can see doors and trapdoors for accessto other levels.
I like the “neon” signs too, nice touch with the cploured perspex.
Would be interested to see some of the MDF terrain painted up
The “neon” signs are a cool touch, right enough. Soon as I saw them I started thinking about how I could do other ones to go with them. Coloured acetate is your friend 🙂
Oh, and regarding gaming utility Chibi, I think I’ll have to wait till I get my paws on some to really know. I can see there are trapdoors and such and it seems like the top comes off, but how practical that really is will be a “proof of the pudding” kind of thing, methinks. I can see it working well as a 1 level building, but what about 2 or 4? Having played Necromunda and Urban War over a variety of different set ups over the years I have found out the hard way that looking cool does not… Read more »
Is a fair comment
TBH was thinking along the same lines after posting.
If it involves taking off upper levels which may already have figures on, then things could get interesting! lol
That’s what I was thinking, but you really need to have some to try to find out. I hope they’re perfect cos they look lovely 🙂
Wow, these look really great along with all the other stuff micro arts are putting out for Infinity.
If you’ve got some of this MDF style terrain from them sirangry, I’d be interested to know whether the edges of the pieces where they are ‘cut’ are smooth or have a rough edge, and whether the edges get a bit rounded and suffed over time?
I’m planning on getting some of the MAS walkways to review at some point and I’ll certainly grab myself one of these buildings when they’re released and give peeps the low dowm. Fingers crossed they’re actually good, because I think the biggest barrier to getting into Infinity and other games quickly is the availability of easy to make suitable terrain.
It looks great.
Since these are still WIP shots and we have as a precedence the catwalks WIP shots I expect quite a few things to be added.
Although don’t seem very gothic for 40k, they would work well for a Tau outpost/complex? Mmmm…
They look pretty good unpainted, but I’d like to see some that have been passed over with the hairy sticks, and I’d possibly be concerned about the robustness of the balcony. Looks like there are slots in the balcony to join on to the walkways(or an unreleased set) too so you could link a few together and create an old school twisty mess for Necromunda.
I really want to see one of these painted up by them. That can really make a difference. The thing I like about them, like the stairs, they seem like it would easy to add on to them. I can already imagine some things to put onto it. If you want it more Gothic, throw on some gargoyles. If you want more streamlined. you can put some plasti-card around the corners. I would ad some things on the roof, like antennas, satellite dish, air ducts, solar panels, etc.
Love this stuff
Im wondering myself how it will look with just a spray job done on it!
These buildings are awesome. It’s great to get terrain themed for Infinity because there is already so much “Gothic Ruin” stuff out there for 40K that IMHO just doesn’t look good on an Infinity table.
Don’t forget to dip it after it has been sprayed Warren 😉
Just a thought. Given that Ronnie and Allessio say that Warpath is Hi Sci Fi would these buildings not fit the bill for Warpath too?
I don’t see why they wouldn’t work for Warpath.
I’ve not seen any art of buildings/environments/etc for Warpath yet, so it’s hard to say whether this is their vision of High SF or not. Nice looking buildings though.
From the mutterings on their forums it seems as if MAS are thinking of expanding this range. One to watch (and buy!).
I absolutely agree its one to watch. I’ve struggled to find the time and quite frankly will power to get terrain together in the past, especially the amount of terrain needed for none GW sci-fi games. If this is of a good enough quality colour me sold!!!
This stuff is making it very difficult to justify building terrain from scratch (which im terrible at!) Very very pretty indeed, wonder how much these are gonna be?
Apparently they were talking about 20 quid for a 2 storey building as their target price point. We’ll have to wait and see when they release it if they managed that or not.
